Some obviously need help in reading Ezekiel 39 about God's final captivity of His people. It requires not... just taking out one verse or term out of that Scripture, but allowing God's Word to flow as written...
Ezek 39:21-29
21 And I will set My glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see My judgment that I have executed, and My hand that I have laid upon them.
That above is about the future event of God's judgment upon the nations when Jesus returns on the last day of this world, the "day of the Lord."
22 So the house of Israel shall know that I am the LORD their God from that day and forward.
From that point of time forward, the ten lost tribes of the "house of Israel" which God scattered out of the holy lands first, will then understand and know their real identity, as even to this day the majority of them think they are Gentiles, living among all Gentiles. This of course will only happen on the day of Christ's future coming.
23 And the heathen shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity: because they trespassed against Me, therefore hid I My face from them, and gave them into the hand of their enemies: so fell they all by the sword.
The nations (Gentiles) also will at that point know about the ten lost tribes of Israel that God scattered for rebelling against Him, and will then realize who they are.
24 According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions have I done unto them, and hid My face from them.
When God scattered the ten northern tribes of the northern "kingdom of Israel", also known as the "house of Israel", He hedged up their paths so they would not find their way back to the holy lands. And per His warnings in Deuteronomy 4 and 28, He said He would scatter Israel among the Gentiles if they rebelled against Him. In that sense, God hid His face from them. In Jeremiah 3:8, God even said He gave them a bill of divorce. Thus the ten northern tribes of Israel, the majority of all Israelites, became lost, lost to the themselves, lost to the world, and even lost to the Jews in later times. At this event in Ezekiel 39, the ten tribes are going to understand what God did to them, as the Gentile nations will also understand it. Today they still do not know.
25 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Now will I bring again the captivity of Jacob, and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel, and will be jealous for My holy name;
This specific "captivity" is about God's future GATHERING of all His chosen 12 tribes of Israel, which the name Jacob is put for. But God also specifically mentions this for the "house of Israel" to show this matter He has been speaking regarding them. Thus the meaning of this "captivity" is NOT in the negative sense, but in the positive sense of God gathering His chosen Israel out of the nations on the last day of this world.
26 After that they have borne their shame, and all their trespasses whereby they have trespassed against Me, when they dwelt safely in their land, and none made them afraid.
27 When I have brought them again from the people, and gathered them out of their enemies' lands, and am sanctified in them in the sight of many nations;
That previous mention of God's "captivity" of the seed of Jacob will only happen after the above, when the children of Israel shall have borne their shame at their trespasses against God.
28 Then shall they know that I am the LORD their God, Which cause them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them any more there.
29 Neither will I hide My face any more from them: for I have poured out My spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.

The above events have NOT happened yet today.
Only the Jews of the "house of Judah" make up the nation called Israel in the holy land today. The majority of the ten tribes of Israel are still scattered among the Gentile nations to this day. Thus this final "captivity" is about their future gathering back to the land, as shown in the above Ezekiel 39 Scripture.
