What your describing is a result of being born of God, not being born again. The primary subjective driver of God's Kingdom is what happens in a persons mind/heart; who in reality their allegiance is fixed on.
This is not solely about a cognitive interest. A cognitive interest alone fools the participant. Proverbs 18:2 describes this '“Fools have no interest in understanding; they only want to air their own opinions.”
When Jesus uses the term 'born again' he is referencing a change of heart, a switch of allegiance; a switch which initiates a whole new thinking/seeing process.
Sin is a sabotaging phenomena.
When Paul says, “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.” he is stating a fact not making a threat to those who choose the sabotaging route.
Being born again is God giving to us a new heart and a new spirit, one that is teachable about the kingdom of God, one that is interested in following Christ
After being born of God, we hear what God says as we are of God, as in of the Spirit, and no longer of the flesh.
John 8:47 He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”
Romans 8, the carnal mind is angry against and dislikes Christ, that is enmity means. The carnal mind cannot believe in Christ as it is NOT subject to the laws of God nor indeed can be, that is impossible.
5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be [b]carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the [c]carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.
