We are told by Jesus if we do His/God's will we are His brothers and sisters. Not even bringing to attention the Armenian vs Calvinists doctrines and their debates, but either way won't His will be done no matter what?

Gods will is not always done. God does not desire the mayhem prevalent on this planet. God does not desire the murderous and exploitive designs of men.We are told by Jesus if we do His/God's will we are His brothers and sisters. God's will however, will be done in the Earth made new as described in the later chapters of the book of Revelation. It is what Jesus taught us to pray for, 'thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven'. It is also the Good News going to the four corners of Earth in the face of opposition.
At present Earth is in the grip of Evil. This will change.
Love is vulnerable. Vulnerable to exploitation. Loving does not mean one gets their own way every time.Is allowing these negative issues to happen His will?
It is a hard concept for us from our perspective of living out our lives, but this is not real-time with God as it seems to be with us, it's more of an instant replay. We are told by Jesus if we do His/God's will we are His brothers and sisters. I agree 100 percent. Was Jesus talking about the Decretive will when talking about us being His brothers and sisters? When theologians talk about "God's will", there are two types:
God's Decretive Will cannot be thwarted. God's Preceptive Will may or may not have dependencies on the free-will actions of His created beings.
- God's Decretive Will = God’s Plan.
- God's Preceptive Will = God’s desires.
You're referring to Matthew 12:48-50, right?I agree 100 percent. Was Jesus talking about the Decretive will when talking about us being His brothers and sisters?
I meant perceptive but mistyped, yes I agreeYou're referring to Matthew 12:48-50, right?
48 He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” 49 Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. 50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
I would say, no, Jesus is talking about God's Preceptive Will here. First of all, the Greek word used is thelema, which carries the nuance of God's wishes. There is another word, boulema, which is carries the meaning of God's deliberate determination or resolute decree. Second reason, it depends on human action, doing what God wants done, which is indicative of God's Preceptive Will.
A Calvinist would read it differently, something more like, whoever does what God wants is revealed to be part of God's plan, God's Decretive Will. But, you said up front you didn't want to bring Calvinism/Arminianism into the discussion, so pretend I didn't say that.
