Simply stated, there isn't much information given.

2 John 1:1 KJV
The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;

The most natural reading here, to me, is that he is addressing a Christian family.

The last verse, to me, supports that thinking:

2 John 1:13 KJV
The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen.

"Your elect sister", family.

Should this be understood that the woman was the gate-keeper for the church?

2 John 1:10-11 YLT
10) if any one doth come unto you, and this teaching doth not bear, receive him not into the house, and say not to him, 'Hail!'
11) for he who is saying to him, 'Hail,' hath fellowship with his evil works.

Don't let them into the house. The Apostles taught individual hospitality, this sets a limit to that. The church is not mentioned, only the house.

Much love!
Well said brother-I knew you would rightly divide the Scriptures-and this "particular verse"

2Jn_1:10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting,

Vs. 10-11 Treatment of False Teachers

If anyone comes - A teacher or brother. The Greek is indicative, not subjunctive; implying that such persons will actually come, and when any comes, as they will.

does not bring this teaching -- The truth about Jesus who came in the flesh, and is truly the Son of God.
These false teachers were carrying on a regular campaign to destroy the basic, fundamental truths of Christianity.

do not receive him into your house [assembly; meeting] -- Whether the one comes to the assembly, or to your home [ Into your house (eis oikian). Definite without the article like our at home, to town.]when showing hospitality, he is not to be welcomed and helped on his way.

The house here probably refers to the house church and thus John’s audience may be welcoming these antichrists in as teachers, when they should be refuted and rejected. - FSB

neither give him any greeting [bid God speed] -- (Berry) "Hail", (Chairo) used of salutation at meeting and farewell at parting. Literally, "Joy to you.
"Complete disassociation from such heretics is the only appropriate course of action for faithful Christians. No help or aid of any kind should be extended to false teachers.

DIVISION is Sinful- 1Co_1:10-13, Joh_17:20-21.
There is only one body- Eph_4:4 & Eph_1:22-23, 1Co_12:13.
To support false teacher is sinful- 2Jn_1:10-11, Isa_5:20, Pro_17:15.

FALSE TEACHERS - 2Co_11:13-15, 2Ti_4:2-4, 1Ti_4:1-3, Mat_24:24, Act_20:28-30, Gal_1:7-9, Deu_18:21-22.
To Support false teachers is Sinful- 2Jn_1:10-11.

"do not receive him into your house" This is a PRESENT ACTIVE IMPERATIVE with the NEGATIVE PARTICLE which often implies the stopping of an act in process (the context must determine).

The "house" could refer to Christian hospitality (cf. Matt. 25:35; Rom. 12:13; 1 Tim. 3:2; Titus 1:8; Heb. 13:2; 1 Pet. 4:9 or 3 John 5-6), but in context it probably refers to inviting a traveling minister to speak to the house church (cf. Rom. 16:5; 1 Cor. 16:19; Col. 4:15; Philemon 2).

"and do not give him a greeting"

This is another PRESENT ACTIVE IMPERATIVE with the NEGATIVE PARTICLE. Do not identify yourself with this "so-called Christian." Any hint of fellowship might be misunderstood as approval (cf. 2 John 1:11). This statement is very hard to apply to today. So many claim to be Christians. Yet in an attempt to share with them we must be cordial and engaging in conversation. Still, Christian leaders must beware of any identification with heresy. This, of course, does not apply to Christian denominations!

Shalom to you and family.

The only time I find the word Lady in the OT is in Isaiah chapter 47.

Interesting..
1Pe 5:13
The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son.

Isa 47:1
Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon, sit on the ground: there is no throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called tender and delicate.
Isa 47:2
Take the millstones, and grind meal: uncover thy locks, make bare the leg, uncover the thigh, pass over the rivers.
Isa 47:3
Thy nakedness shall be uncovered, yea, thy shame shall be seen: I will take vengeance, and I will not meet thee as a man.
Isa 47:4
As for our redeemer, the LORD of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel.
Isa 47:5
Sit thou silent, and get thee into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called, The lady of kingdoms.
Isa 47:6
I was wroth with my people, I have polluted mine inheritance, and given them into thine hand: thou didst shew them no mercy; upon the ancient hast thou very heavily laid thy yoke.
Isa 47:7
And thou saidst, I shall be a lady for ever: so that thou didst not lay these things to thy heart, neither didst remember the latter end of it.
Isa 47:8
Therefore hear now this, thou that art given to pleasures, that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children:
Isa 47:9
But these two things shall come to thee in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood: they shall come upon thee in their perfection for the multitude of thy sorceries, and for the great abundance of thine enchantments.
Isa 47:10
For thou hast trusted in thy wickedness: thou hast said, None seeth me. Thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath perverted thee; and thou hast said in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me.
Isa 47:11
Therefore shall evil come upon thee; thou shalt not know from whence it riseth: and mischief shall fall upon thee; thou shalt not be able to put it off: and desolation shall come upon thee suddenly, which thou shalt not know.
Isa 47:12
Stand now with thine enchantments, and with the multitude of thy sorceries, wherein thou hast laboured from thy youth; if so be thou shalt be able to profit, if so be thou mayest prevail.
Isa 47:13
Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee.
Isa 47:14
Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it.
Isa 47:15
Thus shall they be unto thee with whom thou hast laboured, even thy merchants, from thy youth: they shall wander every one to his quarter; none shall save thee.

Rev 14:8
And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.
Rev 16:19
And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.
Rev 17:5
And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
Rev 18:2
And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

Rev 12:3
And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.
Rev 12:4
And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.
Rev 12:5
And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.
Rev 12:6
And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

Isa 23:13
Behold the land of the Chaldeans; this people was not, till the Assyrian founded it for them that dwell in the wilderness: they set up the towers thereof, they raised up the palaces thereof; and he brought it to ruin.

Luk 2:15
And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
Luk 2:16
And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
Luk 2:17
And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
Luk 2:18
And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
Luk 2:19
But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

Isa 47:7
And thou saidst, I shall be a lady for ever: so that thou didst not lay these things to thy heart, neither didst remember the latter end of it.

2Jo 1:1
The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;
2Jo 1:2
For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.

Isa 47:8
Therefore hear now this, thou that art given to pleasures, that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children:

Zep 2:15
This is the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.

Very interesting indeed @Ziggy

1. List and explain the NT terms used for the leader of local house churches.

2. List the four admonitions to pastors in 1 Pet. 5:2-3.

3. List allusions to Peter's personal contact with Jesus that are mentioned in this chapter.

4. How is suffering related to Christian maturity? To the Devil?

Ellsworth. I'm ok. I have to get the tire changed anyways, This is twice this week the tire has lost air.
I had them come fill it on Monday. I though it was because it had just been sitting for awhile.
I'll get it to VIP and either fix it or get a new one.
I'm gonna sit still for today.
Still can't get through to AAA. Everytime I call it goes to the busy signal.
Maybe they're having phone troubles.
I called the hospital and dad is doing fine. He's sleeping right now.
I been there everyday since I admitted him Monday. Bladder infection that turned sepsis. They have him on anibiotics.
He needs his rest.
Thank You though
Much appreciated

2 John 1:1 KJV
The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;

The most natural reading here, to me, is that he is addressing a Christian family.
No, the most natural reading for the phrase "her children" is in the same sense in which 1 John 2:12, 2:18 and 3:18 uses that term.

"I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake."
"Little children, it is the last hour..."
"My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth."

The phrase "her children" in 2 John 1 & 13 meant the members of the assembly under the teaching of the "elect lady" and also her sister's assembly, in the same way that "my little children" was an affectionate term which John applied to those of the assembly under his teaching.
