Following on from my last post about the lame man walking, and I say this advisedly because I come under this umbrella, the religious leaders were flummoxed. I mean these men are uneducated and untrained. Perish the thought. So what is the angle here?
Mumble. mumble, mumble. All we can come up with is that they had been with Jesus,. HALLELUJAH!! What a qualification. Have you been with Jesus lately?
But, but, but....no buts. The lame man that was, he was there with them standing, FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER IN HIS LIFE.
What can we say? Ah, er, nothing. A miracle had silenced them. Not a 50-minute sermon. A miracle.
"We got to have the last word guys. Go outside you guys, we want to do some talking."
"All we can do is tell them to shut up and don't speak to anyone in the name of Jesus." (Not the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit).
So they call them back in and tell them what they expect them to not do.
Their response...... Up yours. We can only tell the people what we have SEEN and HEARD. So you go and work that one out for yourself.
The people glorified God for what had happened so what could they do? The people knew the way the cookie crumbled so we can hardly say its all rubbish.
So the disciples went back to where the others were and reported to them what had happened. if the truth was known they probably did a little dance to celebrate. AND THEN THEY PRAYED.
Lord, look on their threats (was that another up yours?) and give us BOLDNESS (Filling of the Holy Spirit) to speak your word....BY stretching out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders will be done through the name of Jesus. Not by their name or the name of the father, son, and the holy spirit. NO, the name of Jesus.
Did God answer their prayers? You bet. The place was shaken and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit AND they spoke the Word with boldness.
Message received and understood.
Just a quick question. When was the last time your church had a prayer meeting and the place was shaken and everyone was filled with the Holy Spirit?
