Here is something you have probably not heard. Futurism and Preterism where invented as part of the counter-reformation launched by the Catholic church against the Historicist views of ALL Protestants. Futurism in 1590 by the Jesuit Ribera and Preterism in 1614 by the Jesuit Alcasar. Both became official teachings of Rome. Both where opposed by Protestants. Today the Papacy has pulled the veil over the eyes of Protestants but historically no one believed these anti-Protestant views.I know everyone who holds Jesuit views will try to refute that so let's avoid some things.First, Preterists love to quote anyone talking about the fall of Jerusalem and claims it's preterism. It's not. Unless you have a quote of someone claiming that that is what Revelation is exclusively about you have nothing.Second, Apostolic Fathers looking foward to prophecies is not futurism since they believed everything Historicists do to the letter with one exception (3 12 year theory).Third, believing in a 3 12 year Antichrist reign is not futurism since they didn't believe Revelation would be entirely fulfilled in that time period but would stretch from the writing to the end of time.
