First we are “saved” as sinners and Jesus changes our heart, “then” we start living for God.

This is a different issue altogether.
The Roman Catholic Church, teaches that “to keep yourself saved”, a Catholic must ago to mass and go to confession.
THIS IS A LIE.
With a regular unsaved person, the Bible says first get saved, then God will change your life.
But if you’re a Roman Catholic, this means that you have been deceived by a false religion; As a result, you think that you are already saved.
Therefore salvation for you, must include realizing that the teachings of the RCC are unbiblical and reject them, by getting saved.
Then God will start changing you life.
