Day 3
Psalm 128:1-2
1 Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord; that walketh in his ways.
2 For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.
The Lord has provided bounty, indeed! God promises blessings upon those who actively try and seek His will for their lives. This lifestyle is not to be one brought about because we have a want, but rather because we have already received the Greatest gift of all! The Lord knows our hearts; He sees us struggle and toil over His word, trying our hardest to walk in His ways with a heart full of no more motivation than genuine thanksgiving for His son. The Lord confirms to our cautious hearts that we are indeed permitted to enjoy the blessings He has poured out over us! It is not a sin to enjoy much bounty; it is a sin to enjoy bounty too much! We must be cautious that we do not then place these gifts as our idols, and fixate our lives on gaining more of whatever it is God has given us. God will increase or decrease our wealth as it pleases Him; making it the center of our lives does nothing to prevent this! God, for Jesus’ sake, loves us so much that He gives us wonderful gifts; we must not allow them to overshadow the greatest gift ever given! It pleases God to give us good things, and we are indeed allowed to enjoy them; this is His reward for our diligent faith! So praise Christ for the wonderful bounty; for only through His blood can we receive any blessing at all!
