As a Christian a great desire to have is attaining spiritual gifts. A spiritual gift enables the Holy Spirit to manifest within anyone that believes. The types of gifts you can receive is speaking in tongues, interpreting tongues, having visions, and dreams, and being able to prophesy.
All of this can be found in Acts 2...
Acts 2:4
All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
6. When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken.
7. Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans?
8. Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language?
17. “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.
18. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.
38. Peter replied “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
The whole of Acts chapter 2 explains the beauty of receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit will give you different gifts.
1 Corinthians 12….
8. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit,
9. to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,
10. to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.
11. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.
However, this will only happen if you desire these gifts, and if you do God will reveal things in a marvellous way.
1 Corinthians 12:31
31. Now eagerly desire the greater gifts. And yet I will show you the most excellent way.
Lord, I Pray you help me desire the Holy Spirit. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
