For instance the Catholics here always get attacked and lies are always told about them.

It is not Catholics -- the adherents -- who get attacked. It is the false teaching of the RCC that gets attacked. And rightly so. And to automatically label them as "lies" does nothing for Catholic credibility. Also, you seem to forget how the Catholic Church attacked and persecuted the Reformers when they exposed the false teachings of Rome. They were "heretics" as far as the RCC was concerned.

All false teachings should be exposed for what they are. And it does not matter where they originate. There are a lot of false teachings in the non-Catholic churches also. And we won't even mention the cults.

Let's take devotion to Mary as an example. You will have to admit that there is absolutely nothing in the Bible to support that notion. Yet it is a critical component of the Catholic church.

Catholics are the victims of their hierarchical clergy and the Vatican. But Catholics themselves are generally very fine people. No one should attack them. They simply need to hear the truth from Scripture.

Those words, and the spirit that gives them thought, and "breath" on forums is that which we are to be on guard against in this world. Right?
Not giving it a platform in these forums.

Imagine Evangelizing like this:
"Yeah? Well, you're too stupid to know what the bible says do don't try to argue scripture with me! Grow up Moron! "

We're a little pocket on a web that covers the world.

We have no idea how many people are out there looking for a way to discover what it is like to live as Christians in community, communing, with the holy spirit.
Or, are looking to see if we walk the talk of Jesus by our example.

So, why does hostility, disrespect, insults, intentions to hurt one another's feelings, or belittle our faith, etc... enter in?

By far maam, this is the tamest place I post, most here are very considerate and cordial. I appreciate that this site actually lets you talk about God, most "religious" sites really does not want anyone posting there who represents Him. I am banned from most, and the only other one which still allows me to post has given me a few time outs. Yet as kind as I am to others, they kick me off for insulting others, while allowing them to say just about anything to me. Go figure! I am really happy to have found this site.

"People do not go to Hell because they sin. They go to Hell, because they reject the payment for their sin."

Our lives are an inch in an eternity of inches. How we live this inch in life is going to determine our eternity whether in Heaven or in Hell. My thoughts are someone who truly embraced what Christ did on the cross for them is not going to want to intentionally be an evil person. If so, they are deceived and do not really understand that gift. Same time, many, many Christians have Christ as their Savior, but Christ is not their "Lord." As a result, people lose rewards on earth and rewards in Heaven. I know every tear will be wiped from our eyes in Heaven, but I do wonder how many tears believers will cry for the evil things they did in life. God will be able to judge who truly came to believe and accept the gift of eternal life and who will not.

Here is my concern though... I think so much time and effort is put into arguing the theology and pointing out false teachers, that these great theologians are not teaching on how to live an obedient and prosperous life in Christ Jesus. Jesus called people out, but He also taught the people the how. I think if the how was focused on, that would help believers more in the long run then the specifics in if it can be lost or not.

With kids, we are told the positives are more effective when teaching people. Why is it different for adults? You want people to listen? Feed the sheep.

But yeh, if you tell a nonbeliever or new believer not to hang out with someone who believes in osas, because they are false teachers, that is a mistake in my opinion, because it could mean their salvation. That person may be the one needed. We have all been deceived and have areas of blind spots in our lives. Jesus called the Pharisees out multiple times telling them to beware their bread. He didn't tell anyone to avoid them like the plague though. That is where the insult comes in.

When I was a young adult, around 20, I opened up at a church I used to go to that I self injured. We had a VBS, and I overheard someone say, "if it means for her being alone with my child for them to come to Christ, I do not want her in there with the child."

That broke me. I stopped the vbs and children's ministry for a long time because of that before entering Teen Challenge. Words matter. I was depressed and couldn't see that I should have just obeyed my calling.

Evil From God?

There are people on the forum that talk about how we should live. I have...I have a thread called Grailhunter's Corner. Some People have issues preaching that we should do good for one another because they call that works and want to through water on applying Christianity to our lives... The Apostle James touched on this....doing good for one other will not get you to heaven, but doing good for one another is what a good Christian should be doing.

But consider this, some of what you are saying gets lost in practicality. Everyone....LOL....at least in this country....has freedom of religion....we still have it because there were those that were not so sweet and were willing to fight and die for it. It is common among sheep to put down those that fight. It is just the way it is, and it is not going to change.

Freedom of religion is expressed on this forum....some of those beliefs are not only evil but threaten the souls of others.
Now we also have the right to open a bank account and start a retirement savings. That does not mean you know that your bank is honest....you maybe lead to believe it is honest and your saving are safe. You may save your whole life and in the end have nothing...all your bank statements just worth the paper it was written on. Now as your standing there realizing that all of your work and planning was for nothing. Would the thought occurred to you, that you wished someone would have told you if they knew. As you point out....How we live this inch in life....you are right...compared to eternity...this is a drop in a bucket, your retirement is a drop in a bucket.

When I am going nose to nose with the evils on this forum, I am not so much debating them, I am struggling with evil to save souls. The souls of others...the souls of the guests that are reading this forum. I think past my nose. I know what I am doing. Your probably secure in your heavenly reward....but there are people coming to this forum wanting to learn the Way to salvation. There maybe people coming to this forum living sinful lifestyles, wanting to change, and they will run into these OSAS people that will tell them....we are all filthy rags....all Christian are filthy rags....there is no hope of being good. So there is no reason to try....no reason to change....just believe in Christ and you are guaranteed heaven. Now when they wind up standing in the flames....do you think the thought would occur to them that they wished someone would have told them the truth.

It is wonderful to be sweet and non confrontational, God love your heart...but consider not coming down on those that are trying to save souls from hell. They are going that extra mile. They are willing to step out and risk being looked down on by the very people they are trying to protect...but again this is the norm....even in the big picture to....those that have fought and killed to protect your right to believe as you wish....they are not sheep....but they are the champions of God.

Im sorry to hear that. It seems like a good number of people were banned from there that didnt deserve to be. And then theres people leaving there too, the number of active users they have must be getting smaller
