Hebrews 6:4-6 (NKJV)
4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, (Christians) ! 5 and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6 if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame. 7 For the earth which drinks in the rain that often comes upon it, and bears herbs useful for those by whom it is cultivated, receives blessing from God; 8 but if it bears thorns and briars, it is rejected and near to being cursed, whose end is to be burned.
Read that passage again, giving attention to verse 6.
Now ask yourself, what the passage is telling the reader what is impossible for those described in verses 4-5.
Some, if not many, misuse that passage to mean as teaching that those born from above, the legitimate children of God, could be unsaved or cease to be children of God.
While to some, of not to many, believe that they and every child of God for that matter, can at will reject Jesus Christ, they do not believe the truth of verse 6 of that passage. Their thinking is that the child of God can act at will to fall away, even reject Jesus Christ, but he can also act at will after, receive and believe Him again, andnonce again be a child of God. It seems to be that he can at will, become a child of the devil, then become a child of God, then become a child of the devil, then become a child of God, as the case would be with him. That in the ultimate, he is the one in control or is the master of himself.
Scriptures says concerning the true children of God, that they are under grace. What does it mean to you to be under grace?
