In the Greek, this speaks of ongoing habitual sin, not personal sins

That’s not true.

"And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life." (Revelation 21:27)

whoever keeps the whole law yet STUMBlES in one point, is guilty
Are you a Jew?

man likes to water down gods standard and claim they are good

The children of God are good and you can tell them by their deeds. As Paul said we are saints...now the Hebrew phrase of saints is holy ones. That is why in some translations the saint appears in the Old Testament.

No. I comprehend it quite well.
You sure do seem to be confused.
You are going to sin...your job is to keep to a minimum.
Is it to much for Christ to ask for us to learn from our mistakes? No, of course not.
Whatever understanding that you are getting from the scriptures that God expects us to be perfect...you are wrong.
Whatever understanding that you are getting from the scriptures that we can be perfect...you are wrong.

gods standard is still perfection

I am set apart by God, not because of my goodness

You are saying that the things described in the following verse are not sins:

"And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life." (Revelation 21:27)

“abomination” is sin along with everything else mentioned therein.

AND THEY WHO DO THEM WILL NOT ENTER THE HOLY CITY.

PERIOD.

What their standard is higher than yours?

We are not Jews...the 613 Mosaic Laws on one hand are inferiors to Christ's teachings and on the other it was the Mosaic Law that stated if you break one you break them all....not Christ's teachings. Christ freed us from the Mosaic Law. If you look to the Law for justification you are severed from Christ and have fallen from Grace...If you have a love for the Mosaic Law, it is best that you just to convert to Judaism. You cannot be in two covenants at once. Christ warned of this when He said that you do not put new wine in old wine skins because the skins will burst and ruin both...same thing about the new patch on old cloth.

So what do you think is the alternative?

You must obey righteousness. There is no alternative if salvation is a desired thing to be realized.

"Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof." (Romans 6:12)

No one is saved by goodness. Oh my gosh! How many times does this need to be said!
But sin and sin some more is not the way of Christ, the Apostles, or Christianity as a whole.
Those that believe so, play Christ for fool...He is no fool and will judge you accordingly because He knows your heart.

I agree that it is a goal....but also be sure that you will sin and I will sin.

I will sin.

"…if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins" (Hebrews 10:26)

In other words; don’t come back running to me again after I saved you once already!

Depart from me, ye who work iniquity!

"I WILL profess unto them… depart from me, ye that work iniquity." (Matthew 7:23)
