Acts 2: 38 does not say what you think it said

and you have been told what it said numerous times. Yet you act as if you never heard.

peter never told anyone to be baptized to recieve the gift of the spirit the words are not related in the greek

Go to acts chapter ten as well . The household of cornelius . They heard them speak with tongues
having recieved the Holy Ghost . THEN peter says can any man forbid water that these may be baptized .
It does also show the dire importance of being water baptized . But it also shows
ITS TRULY all about having FAITH . Without faith the water baptism means nothing . Just a dry sinner going down
and coming up a wet sinner . FAITH IN JESUS . FAITH IN JESUS is what saves a man . THE REST
is simply being a hearer and a doer . WHICH if we are a hearer only , then yeah we are deceiving ourselves .

It is interesting how the church moved away from the way Peter presented the message of the gospel.

It is interesting how the church has moved away from everything in the New Testament. What was that Frank Sinatra song...I Did It My Way. Musically it is a fantastic song and coupled with his voice it is unforgettable, but it seems to me the church has taken it to heart and made it thier anthem.

I have a theory/feeling/conviction the church is as wishy washy as it is is due to the fact that the Bible is dealt with on a take it or leave it premise and if you leave it, doesn't matter as long as you turn up and put the money in the coffers.

As a result, most believers are sitting on the premises rather than standing on the promises.

Sadly, there have been many people with a spurious faith in various false religions and cults who have been water baptized for the purpose of becoming born again yet end up going down into the water as a dry sinner and coming up a wet sinner.

This too is true my friend . Faith in Christ is what saves us . And if we are His then let us be water baptized as well .
Doing all things from the heart unto the glorious Lord who has saved us and given us such great hope .
What must i do to be saved , BELIEVE IN HE , JESUS CHRIST , whom GOD did send . Let all cling to HIM
being faithful unto He who has called us and is able to keep us from falling . TRUST IN HIM
and let us learn all things HE did teach and later the apostels would teach . Having all hope and all affections above on Him .

Truther , it could and can be summed up real easy . TIME TO OBEY JESUS .
The early church did and they were for sure certain about getting water baptism .
A hearer only is in dire straights . But one who loves the LORD , loves all things He did teach , say and DO .
SO let it be said , TIME TO LOVE JESUS , WHICH MEANS TIME TO OBEY THE KING in all that we do and in all that we say .
Let us ponder on the pure and holy words of our Lord and of the apostles as well . For they were truly Spirit filled

And i should know , i was once that kind of man . But praise GOD for his wonderous mercy and grace
which is given us in Christ . That HE truly drew me to the true biblical JESUS and a love from GOD for truth was laid upon the heart .

These have left the apostles doctrine and teach man-made doctrines. So much as teaching Water Baptism is no longer important or required. They teach what is NOT spirit inspired, they have veered away from the truth of the word of God.

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

Acts 22:16 "And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord."


Now Mark 16:16 is interesting because "some" on this forum tell us to focus strictly on the last portion of that verse...

He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Heaven forbid if they should focus on the first portion...
