Thank you for making mention @CharismaticLady
I always thought so to, but Scripture interprets Scripture. The translators were wrong.
Galatians 5:16-18
16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
See Romans 7:25
So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.
15 For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do. 16 If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good. 17 But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. 18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. 19 For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. 20 Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.
Romans 7 is such a great chapter.
There is debate on how to handle it one side goes one way, another side goes the other way.
Truth is when it comes down to it a Christian believer will delight in the Law of God meaning they will have love for God by delighting it even though they understand they can not perfect it; they look towards the Lord Jesus Christ in thankfulness, because He did hold onto the law perfectly, having nailed the law to the Cross. - We are carnal sold under sin - our flesh... it is why Paul says in Philippians to live is Christ but to die is gain.
Paul longed to be with Christ - and in his living realized how the holy spirit had changed from the person he was before who murdered people... especially being a zealot for the law himself.
I believe in the human being having two natures; the first being the natural self then when reborn again from above that of having the spiritual self to live with.
They are always constantly fighting between each other.
