I honestly don't think anyone on this thread believes that good works are meritorious toward salvation.
I disagree... that is exactly what some are saying... otherwise WHY the loss of salvation??? One side is saying it's all about CHRIST and HIS SHED BLOOD and the other side saying.... CHRIST's SHED BLOOD plus their GOOD WORKS.... This is absolutely the problem.. and why these debates always go sideways as you say.
Not to mention the fact that because some of us REST in the PROMISES... we are accused of living like pigs... and condoning all sorts of sin.

That it is possible that God will fail to achieve that purpose for disciplining some of His children, those that leave the family.
His purpose fails for them because they stop believing. At which point God no longer has any obligation to them to watch over them as a dad.

That the children of God who leaves the family, are no longer God’s children.
Yep. Just like when you left Adam's family and are no longer a child made in his image. You are born again. You belong to a new family. So the concept of no longer being a son is not an impossibility. That very thing has already happened for every born again person. You have been born into a new family and no longer belong to the family you came from.

I am not blessed with your gentleness or patience... and I have severe grievances over this topic.
I don't understand. Perhaps we should have a private discussion about it, if you care to. I would like to add that I have more assurance of salvation now, as a classical Arminian than I ever had under the eternal security doctrine. It's very simple, actually. Whereas I now feel that my perseverance is totally in God's keeping, before, I felt that everything depended on my feeble sincerity. I understand that people feel and believe differently, and I have every intention of defending their right to do so. I can't see a better way for me. Let every man be convinced in his own mind. If someone does somehow disturb my peace with God, I know how to close a browser tab or power off a device. :)

But I thought God had no obligation to anything. That's a recurring theme in the Bible, isn't it? Wouldn't obligation negate grace? :)

He has the obligation as a Father to discipline his children. He does not have that obligation to those who are not his children. Hebrews 12. I'm confident you know the passage.

The reason for this debate, like debates regarding water baptism, the Trinity, prophecies, etc. etc., is largely attributable to the limitations of our human minds. There are apparent contradictions to many in the Bible because we cannot fully grasp and put together all the pieces of this incredible puzzle. There is simply not enough room in our brains for all complete knowledge to rest, also it is the divinely inspired word of God so that might have something to do with it being to immense for us lol

Instead of saying, "this is how it is!" or saying, "if you do this you are condemned to hellfire!", or "this is what the prophecy means!", why not just accept each other's viewpoints as each person trying their best to bear good fruit and live lives in Christ and pleasing in sight to the Lord? That's what this is all about, doing our best to live lives as aspiring Christians! Yes, you have your viewpoint and correct when you think necessary, but always humble yourself because who knows, maybe you're in the wrong...

Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the LORD weights the hearts (Proverbs 21:2)

This is among my favorite sayings in Proverbs, it is so applicable to this conversation! If someone says something you disagree with regarding Scripture, but their heart is in complete love and fear of the Lord, will the Creator perhaps take this into consideration? Perhaps their fallible human nature can be pardoned on account of their heart and intentions? I will never dare proclaim to know and understand the divine judgment of Almighty God, but just food for thought...

Now I understand these debates are, in a way, fun and bring life to the forum, but man they bum me out lol truly unnecessary strife among people who love God and wish to please Him. Again, thank you so much @Blood Bought 1953 and @BarnyFife for this conversation, and also @Ferris Bueller you've brought much good to the debate! God bless you all

The devil speaks a subtle language....you can eat the fruit, you will not die....you can sin all you want and still go to heaven.
The words are there
Precious blood of Christ
Blessed
Good Shepherd
Grace
Abundant life
glorifies...

But still the message is trying to get people to believe that you can sin all you want and still go to heaven. That heaven is for evildoers. That heaven will be filled with those of poor character and sin.
Do not let the devil deceive you.
Be good and do good.

The whole sweetness of this I get...
That is not how debates go.
That is not even how discussions go.

Everybody has the right to believe whatever they want to believe....until they start to prey on the innocent.

You know they have a saying for that, that would help....If you cannot stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

Thank you, BB. Here is a direct link to the article for those who wish to read it. It is fascinating. But it does present a kind of neo-dispensationalism that I find troubling. I've only read about half of the article so far, but it is clear that it teaches two gospels: One of Christ; and one of Paul. I do not believe that Paul improved upon or changed the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He certainly made it more studious and profoundly expanded, but he himself says there is one LORD; one faith; and one baptism (Ephesians 4:5).

And Peter made it clear that to the uninitiated or unconsecrated, Paul's writings could be dangerous (2 Peter 3:16). Let me say that another way to be clear. If one (even one who professes Christ) is not walking closely with Christ, Paul's writings can actually trip them up. Virtually no one on this or any other forum I've been on admits to this possibility. I admit freely that there are parts of Paul's writings that I do not understand. Hard to be understood means hard to be understood. I take all Scripture literally unless a figurative, paradoxical, or symbolic interpretation is suggested by context or other related passages. I believe this is a matter of sound hermeneutics. :)

Well Paul was a Brainiac. Got to read carefully. But the main ingredient is understanding the religious literary style. Paul is not the only one that used it....Christ...Peter...John....all used it. The questions is, can you understand the scriptures without understanding that style. Probably one of the main reasons that there are 30,000 Protestant denominations.

Thank you, BB. Here is a direct link to the article for those who wish to read it. It is fascinating.

Fascination:

To influence in an uncontrollable manner; to operate on by some powerful or irresistible charm; to bewitch; to enchant. It has been almost universally believed that . . . serpents can stupefy and fascinate the prey which they are desirous to obtain. Griffith (Cuvier).

That article is garbage.

Be controlled by God in his word, not man and his words.

Hello to anyone who may be reading this,

When it comes to changes in the life of Christians.

A person who becomes Christians their life is changed when they put off of the Old Man. Which is talked about Ephesians 4:17-32.

It tells us to putt away lying, put away deceitful lusts, put away greediness, and uncleanness, and lewdness, and being alienated from the life of God, because of being blind and not looking towards the Light instead of always walking in darkness. Paul is testifying in the Lord that the Ephesians should not be like the Gentiles; who were being led by darkness.

Paul goes on to explain further to them how that they are given the Holy spirit and to let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you with all malice. To be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving on another eve as God in Christ forgave you.

Thank you for your time and Consideration,

Link to video is below if you are curious to learn about the lesson that was done and hope that it provides you use and encouragement as you walk in your life by faith in trusting God, and the Lord Jesus Christ,

Matthew G.

The person who believes and lives Hyper Grace theology has no part of Christ and us.
Please show me from the Bible where this is distinctly taught.
8The one who practices sin is of the devil...
9Anyone born of God refuses to practice sin, because God’s seed abides in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God.
10By this the children of God are distinguished from the children of the devil: Anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God
1 John 3:8-10

This is a nice post, but I personally don't think style has much to do with the fracturing of God's Church. I'd say the love of sin is more responsible. :)
