Yeah, the infection was a wake-up call for both of them. My wife's nose-stud was a one-time celebration of being declared cancer-free by her doctors (thank you, Lord!)
@Lambano What a blessing to be cancer-free? so does she use her nose-stud as a talking point for her thankfulness maybe, or something like that?

Yep. Although the butterfly tattoos are the primary talking point.
@Lambano You can see how tattoos particularly have become thoroughly embraced as effective talking points for faith discussion and communication.

I have debated about getting a cross tattoo of some sort of 1689 tattoo that isn't too gaudy. ..Probably won't do it, though. But I have thought about it. ..She [wife] actually has three tattoos. I have two, so she has more than me. :).. She had a heart with butterfly wings.. before we started dating. .. Actually, last year she got two tats the same day. One is ‘faith’ and ‘believe’.

It really does seem to be regarded as something worthwhile and effective that is being strongly and widely pursued as a womanly faith related option. I guess your wife realized this for herself how widespread it had become.

PS: So did it act a as wake-up call / dissuasion for other family members/friends?
I think my grandson has a new nose ring; I need to check the picture he just texted to my wife. My granddaughter adores my wife and probably would consult her if she wanted a tattoo or piercing; I don't know what my wife would recommend. But she's a schoolteacher, and I don't know if their dress code allows piercings. Tattoos are probably okay as long as they're decent.

What is unedifying in discussing our thoughts on tattoos that contain Christian messages?
@Heart2Soul You posted this, above, the other day on another thread...

Like you said a while ago,

In fact, some ppl regret tattoos.....in the sense of regretting not having gotten a tattoo years ago:

Dave L said:
I think when I was a young Christian, a scripture or Christian art Tattoo would have helped me stake a claim as a Christian and made people aware early on. It would have helped sort out friends from the start. So I regret not having that as an option during that time. .. If I found myself in a similar situation to when I was young, I'd probably have a tattoo.

Fact is that some young Christians, when they are old enough to have it done, seem to regard a tattoo parlor visit for something faith based as something that helps their witness confidence. The young lady that my wife and I talked to who had the whole of the wording of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist area seemed quite shy really but glad to tell us it was her favorite Bible verse.

Seems like @Dave L 's logic would be, If you are likely to do it eventually, right from the start, with a Scripture tattoo, early one, go for it.

I for one wouldn't at all encourage someone to do it who wasn't interested.

But some Christians, at least, do feel it's a wholesome, witness-friendly step to take, and so are excited to go to the parlor for a confidence-building Scripture tattoo (if these comments makes any sense?)

@Lambano So he just got it pierced, did he? Maybe in honor of his grandmother who already had hers done? :)

@GodsGrace So did you see any more design pictures that you like...?

(Like you said, back, 'Even those very conservative types' really seem to appreciate the artwork; and there's such a scope for faith based designs.)
Not really.
And I don't know what I'd use as a spiritual tattoo.
Maybe a small cross...

The start of David, for me, represents a man that I relate to on an intimate level...that being King David. He was the ruler of my ancestors. He also wrote some of the bible. My ancestor most likely served as a priest while he lived.

@Truman See post # 1649, a couple of posts above.

It's a widely sought design, isn't it?

@Lambano When they reach adulthood onward, so many want to do it confidently; while some guidance from the older generation can also be useful.

I guess since your wife has both, they would be to some extent open to her advice, right?

@Truman The star of David together with a cross are symbols which some Christians like to have tattooed.

(In some ways, I wish more Christians worked in tattoo parlors.)
