Yes, Christians will be persecuted, and are being persecuted for the Lord's sake, but we have a refuge in Christ Jesus. I'm not sure how this is relevant to the Godliness or otherwise of Jesus Christ? He is our refuge and keeper.

No, I have seen nothing here that moved me toward making a change. I keep on coming back to it being God who does any persuading. If it were necessary and I were sincere in my desire for truth, would He not persuade me? Or vice versa?

I am sincere, but I will leave it alone until my next visit to the lowest room. Tomorrow will be a long and difficult day for this old man. Pray for me!

A pastor I once had explained that anyone could be born that could fulfill one, even 2, and with difficulty 3. But Jesus fulfilled many.

The chances of this happening would be like filling the state of Texas 2 inches high with quarters and finding the one coin that is a nickle.

Yes, and the prophecies are over a period of hundreds of years, and they all apply to the eternal God. The Lord is the God of the impossible, and all things are possible with God. Why would Lord Jesus then quote that from Psalms 22:1? It was to SHOW that prophecy God had given 1,000 years earlier about Christ's crucifixion was coming to pass, right then and there. It revealed beyond all... doubt, that Jesus is The Christ, Messiah.

Didn't the scribes and Pharisees know that Psalms 22 Scripture before crucifying our Lord? I'd say many of them did know, and some of those no doubt believed on Jesus when they saw His crucifixion. But others among them, the "tares", I'd say they already well 'knew' who Jesus was before they had Him crucified.

In Summary:
When you hear some preacher get up at the pulpit and preach how distraught and afraid, and full of doubt even, our Lord Jesus was upon His cross when He quoted that Psalms 22:1 verse, you then will know that preacher has not actually read Psalms 22 about Jesus' crucifixion.

Where did you get that idea from that our Lord Jesus suffered the "second death"?

If you hear some preacher teach that Jesus suffered the "second death", I recommend you immediately run, and get away from that idiot who doesn't know their fanny from a can of beans.

No. They did not try to use it. They use the verse where Jesus on the cross yelled out asking his God why he abandoned him. It is a great question. Saying it quotes a Psalm changes nothing. Also, I noticed no response to my post's 3 questions.

We know Jesus is not God because Jesus died.

1. Why did the resurrected Jesus say he was going to his God @ John 20:17 if he were God?
2. Why did Jesus say his Father is the only true God @ John 17:3 if he were God?
3. Why did the resurrected Jesus, in heaven, given all authority, receive a revelation from God @ Rev 1:1, if he were God?

Don't be confused, Christ's death on the cross is NOT the "second death".

Revelation 20 explains what the "second death" is, it is the casting of the wicked into the future "lake of fire". Satan, hell, and even death... is to be cast into that "lake of fire" at the end of Christ's future thousand years reign that begins at His return.

Lord Jesus even showed this in the Matthew 10:28 Scripture about the difference between flesh death, and the "second death" in the "lake of fire"...

28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him Which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

We are to fear our Heavenly Father Who after our flesh is killed, He is still able to destroy our spirit body with soul in the future "lake of fire".

The KJV word "hell" there is 'geena' in the Greek, which is from Hebrew 'Hinnom', about the valley of Hinnom, a perpetual burning garbage pit outside the walls of Jerusalem. Jesus was using that as an analogy to the "lake of fire" destruction of the wicked, which is the "second death".

Thus the "second death" is NOT... about death of the flesh at all.
