John Wesley postulated that it was possible for a child of God to achieve "Entire Sanctification" in this life, though he would not claim he himself had achieved it.

Do you believe that this is possible, and that a lack of faith keeps believers from even trying?

YES! I will answer you again - YES! Can two walk together if they’re not in agreement about where they’re going and not in agreement it is even possible to get there from here?

I know one man who was taken there.
But I think we first have to learn to stop stumbling in trust and stop letting what others say cause us to not believe what God has said.

Well, patience IS a fruit of the Spirit...

Yes. But sometimes I wonder if God thinks we are TOO patient about what we shouldn’t be patient with and not patient enough in what we should be!

There is the parable about the woman who kept asking the judge for what she wanted.

Two problems:

1. When a child of God expects to never fall down again, and then does, it can be devastating to his faith. Did Father pull the power? Maybe I was a bastard child all along.

2. When a child of God has success in walking, the Evil One makes him proud in his heart, and he thinks himself better than those children who do fall, and they lose their empathy. We've both seen this many, many times, including on this board. "Lord, I thank you that you did not make me like this tax collector..."

1. Did Father pull the power? Or did the child never have the power yet but thought he did because others told him he did?

2. Do you think that describes me? Answer honestly, it’s okay.

I am tempted to ask you if you claim to have achieved Entire Sanctification yourself, but will hold my tongue. That's not for me to ask.

Do you know how devastating it is for child to realize that he was never really loved and probably never would be? I bear that scar on my soul also.

Does it always have to be all about you? :p Pray with the Psalmist, "Search me, and know my heart O Lord. See if there is any wrong thing in me". You will ALWAYS need to be on guard for this temptation.

(C'mon, you know I've seen your heart and been touched by it.)

You have every right to ask that question. I have given an honest telling of what He has done for me. It’s not for bragging that I tell anyone about it. It’s because I want them to believe what He says He will do and grab for it and ask for it themselves. But count the cost first, because the cost is everything you have.
No, not walking in holiness. I am still just led by the Spirit and not walking IN the Spirit. But isn’t it better to have my enemies who rise up to trouble me in the land silenced than to be harassed by them constantly? He drove them out. He put them under my feet.

It’s true that I sit here alone, wondering where I went since I don’t have my passions directing me any more, and wondering what comes next. But at least I sit here in great freedom and peace from that enemy (the flesh). There are three enemies - the world, our flesh and the devil. The first two don’t mercilessly harass and control me any more.

Im talking about what I know. I can’t talk any further past that except to say that the man who has been correct about everything I’ve gone through thus far says there are more deep rooted things remaining and that I could be sitting here for quite some time. But it’s better to eat a dry crust alone than to have steak with a contentious woman.

Tsk. You know you are loved. Yes, I know the hurt you are talking about, realizing you weren’t loved by your parent. I went through that and learned my mother couldn’t give what she didn’t have. It wasn’t personal. It really wasn’t. But we’re talking about God now, and you know you are loved. There’s no one on earth who could ever convince you otherwise.
Stop acting like if you wait on power that it means you aren’t loved. You know you are. I just want you to know men haven’t told you the truth. They are the spies who came back and said the giants couldn’t be driven out of the land. God can and will do it.

No. It can be devastating to his self sufficiency. It increases his trust in God and decreases his trust in his own ability. You must decrease and He must increase.
If he is disheartened, it is because he hasn’t yet seen and accepted his poverty and lack of power. He is disheartened because He thought he was capable of more than he was. But God is capable. Just ask Him, He’ll show you.

Actually…I think it is a lack of faith in God and great faith in our own strength that keeps us trying and trying rather than giving up and asking for what we lack.

I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted on the earth.”

3 And not only this, but we also celebrate in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; 4 and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; 5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. (Romans 5:3-5)

I love this verse so much. Oh my gosh I love it so much!
We celebrate in all our trials because they result finally in endurance of trust, no more faltering in trust and stumbling. (We have learned the firm obedience of trust by the trials we suffer.) And that strong endurance of trust results in proven character, a fixed heart and mind. When we see this, we truly grab hope because we see nothing is impossible for God. Our trusting and hoping to be fixed did not end in disappointment. :)
