I see Christians all the time taking for granted that they are going to heaven....but what makes you think so?
Jesus promised if you believe in Him you will be saved and have eternal life!
1 John 2:25 This is
the promise which He Himself made to us:
eternal life.
Titus 1:2 in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised long ages ago,
1 John 5:11 And the testimony is this, that God
has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
1 John 5:13 These things I have written to you
who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
John 3:15 so that
whoever believes will in Him have eternal life.
John 10:28
and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.
John 5:24 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.
John 3:36
He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”
John 6:68 Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life.
1 John 5:
12 He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.
John 4:1 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”
Matthew 25:46 These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that
we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true,
in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
John 6:40
For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.”
John 20:31 but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and
that believing you may have life in His name.
John 6:27 Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which
the Son of Man will give to you, for on Him the Father, God, has set His seal.”
Matthew 7:14 For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.
The Promise of Heaven is the same.
John 14:2
Matthew 6:20-21
2 Corinthians 5:1-8
I Corinthians 2:9
Hebrews 11:16
After the Millennial Kingdom, the first earth and heavens will be destroyed and a new heaven and earth created.
Revelation 21:1-2
If you think that you are heaven bound, what do you imagine that you will do in heaven that you cannot do on earth?
Heaven is just like earth only perfect. When we see Yosemite Valley, Kauai, Bora Bora, or whatever you can imagine as the most beautiful place, they look great from a distance. But as we get closer we see imperfections, rotting trees infested with bugs, diseases. Heaven is perfect, no defects. It is a spiritual realm where you can do whatever you enjoy doing here but with complete joy and peace. Talents that many people are not aware of or have not exercised in this life will be fully realized. I play guitar and sing. That is what I will be doing. Whatever we have found in this life that has given us and others pleasure but also a sense of purpose and accomplishment will be realized. Many people have not found their talents. Something has held them back: fear of rejection, lack of confidence and faith, lack of encouragement by parents and others, lack of opportunities, whatever, they just never realize their purpose of gift. In heaven they will. More important though, we will worship and serve God.
The Millennial Kingdom will be rid of evil and sin temporarily and all inhabitants will be Christians. But towards the end of that age, Satan will be released for a short time. There still will be sin, so it won't be perfect. Babies will be born in this kingdom and so will have to receive the LORD by faith as well. People and animals will live in peace for most of this time but still, heaven is perfect.
Are all Christians going to heaven?
Jesus promises all.
"After these things I saw, and behold, a great multitude, which no man could number, out of every nation and of all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, arrayed in white robes, and palms in their hands; and they cry out with a loud voice, saying,
“Salvation to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.” And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures; and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying,
“Amen, blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen.”
Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, “These who are clothed in the white robes, who are they, and where have they come from?” I said to him, “My lord, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. For this reason, they are before the throne of God; Revelation 7:9-15
Why do you think humans are going to heaven when God made us to live forever on earth?
The first earth will be destroyed and pass away ... or did you not read and understand
Revelation 21:1-2 ?
"But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up." 2 Peter 3:10
What is the purpose of taking humans to heaven when God has millions of angels already there, none of whom needed life on earth to qualify?
To be with God and in His wonderful and beautiful spiritual realm.
