Hello all. No doubt, the question of OSAS has been a huge debate around here as of late. And for the most part, i feel like we know who is for and against it.

so what i’d like to know, if OSAS isnt true, then what is true? I’ve never gotten an honest answer from those on this forum as to this question. And my main thoughts on this are, 1. If OSAS isnt true, then what is the requirement to get to Heaven? 2. Since sin no longer matters, are we free to just live however we want?

Strange thing is...the Bible doesn't say that we are all going to heaven.....only a select "few" are chosen as "saints" and these it says have to prove "faithful to death".....but then so do all other Christians. What is difficult to understand about that? Once you become a Christian, its a lifelong commitment to live in accord with Christ's teachings.
If we fail to live up to our commitment then the apostle peter said...
"Certainly if after escaping from the defilements of the world by an accurate knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they get involved again with these very things and are overcome, their final state has become worse for them than the first. 21 It would have been better for them not to have accurately known the path of righteousness than after knowing it to turn away from the holy commandment they had received. 22 What the true proverb says has happened to them: “The dog has returned to its own vomit, and the sow that was bathed to rolling in the mire.” (2 Peter 2:20-22) No OSAS there.

Those who are not of the "heavenly calling" will be ruled by those who are.....its not rocket science. God put us here on planet earth to live forever in paradise, but we lost that prospect when Adam disobeyed a direct command and brought sin and death on all of us. (Romans 5:12) Jesus came to get it back for us, taking some from the earth to assist him in restoring God's original purpose and rewarding those who followed through on their commitment.

OSAS is certainly a license to sin.

Amen! OSAS is a Satanic hoax.

if OSAS is false, how do you have any assurance? Ever?
If OSAS is false, are you saying that sin no longer matters?
What is the average amount of times in a day do you have to get saved?
Humans will always sin, so one is never saved for always, we must keep repenting and pray for forgiveness.

OSAS doesn't make sense and is Satanic!
That kind of remark is not only insulting to God, but it is completely false. It is one thing to say that you believe that salvation can be lost. It is quite another thing to make an incendiary remark like that, which has no basis in truth.
God put us here on planet earth to live forever in paradise
Since paradise is now in Heaven, your theory has no basis in Bible fact. Paradise will not be returning to earth.

In Reformation Arminianism, the gate in is the gate out. Since justification is through faith, the way to lose your justified position is to, say, totally deny and spit on Christ. Say, become an atheist. In case you were thinking of doing something like that, I really, REALLY recommend against it.

As for the sin -> feel insecure -> ask Christ to save you -> promise you won't do it again -> repeat spin loop...

I've been there. That's no way to live. It got to the point where I couldn't do it anymore.

I found the way to live is to trust God's love. "God demonstrates His love for us this way. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

I absolutely do believe in confession of sins. Offending someone who loves you is wrong and it hurts when you realize it. Confession is for me. I have no doubt that I will be held accountable for what I've done in this life. I hope I'm doing (or not failing to do, since positive commands are harder than negative ones) fewer things that offend Him. But I trust that even if I never get any better, He will still love me.

I got that last one from a Calvinist Presbyterian. But it still applies to an Arminian Methodist.

Salvation is not probation.
Eternal life is not temporary life.
Jesus is the door. He is not a revolving door.

Fear and bondage to IN-security is no way to live the Christian life.

Agreed, Dan.

In fact, I think this whole obsession with one's own personal salvation is NOT spiritually healthy.

(Which probably means I'm not really saved. After all, we are supposed to "work out our salvation with fear and trembling". (Philippians 2:12) If you don't see me in the World to Come, will anybody miss me?)

I don't believe you, when you say you've never gotten an honest answer about what is true. What you show is that you are 'determined' to believe OSAS whether or not the idea is actually written in God's Word or not. Doing that is a guarantee of deception.

And I'm sure you've been shown about 1 John 1 also, where John is speaking to Christian believers about the need to still repent to Jesus, and thus Jesus is Just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us of sin. This is why Jesus included asking forgiveness of our sins when asked by His disciples 'how' to pray (Luke 11).

What Apostle Paul showed in Romans 7 about most of our sins caused by our fleshy members, reveals that until we are released from this flesh, we are not going to be made perfect, but only counted perfect WHEN WE REPENT.

Rom 3:24-26
24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
KJV

Are you able to read that Romans 3:25 verse part of just WHICH SINS are remitted on our first belief on Jesus Christ? "Sins that are past", Apostle Paul said, NOT all sins we may commit in the future!

We are to “work out” our salvation (that we already have in Christ) and not work for our salvation. This is in regards to our ongoing sanctification. For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. (Philippians 2:13)

The obsession with our salvation IS unhealthy, demonstrating our lack of trust in Jesus.

Even an "obsession" with our behavior is unhealthy by definition.

We are to work out what God works in, katergadzomai and ergon, we are to perform the work that He works into us, as He is the One Who works in us both -to will -and to do what pleases Him.

Much love!
