@Johann So do you think that this kind of witness can be communicated through a tattoo in a faith design?

All the young ppl with Bible verses tattooed with whom I have spoken seem to have received them for witness tool reasons, anyway...
But... and very often... is it not likely that many of them were simply going along with the crowd even they were saying what seemed to be the right thing to say?

What happens when a person is standing all alone with God?

"From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.
Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?" John 6:66-67

Jesus would have walked on alone as a man if not one had chosen to remain with him...

Where were the multitudes that heard him so gladly when he hung suffering and dying on the cross?

"... Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled." Matt 26:56

Hi @WalterandDebbie

You recently quoted:

"Derek noticed his son didn’t want to take off his shirt to swim and realized it was because he was self-conscious about a birthmark that covers parts of his chest, belly, and left arm. Determined to help his son, Derek underwent a lengthy and painful tattooing process to create an identical mark on his own body.
...."

Love, Walter and Debbie
So do you think it would be good if more Christians worked in tattoo parlors?

All the young ppl with Bible verses tattooed with whom I have spoken seem to have received them for witness tool reasons, anyway.....

(Kind of, as effective conversation-starters.)

Amadeus:

Good and even solemn verses there.

On the other hand, there is also the "one person against the crowd" aspect.

For a young person growing up in a hostile, Godless world, to have a Bible verse tattooed can be both a witness but also a reproach. So when a young believer has it done, it may take a whole lot of conviction.

Without a doubt what you say is so, but eventually somewhere and sometime, a person must stand with God alone to endure to the end with Him.

"It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man." Psalm 118:8

The psalmist wrote that, but each follower of Christ must come to the point of doing it. There is not a man of us who has not failed. Remember again Elijah:

"And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away." I Kings 19:25

Of course, Elijah was wrong. He was not the only one, but that great man of God, in that moment, could not see anyone else.

Do you think that faith based tattoos can be a good idea for some ppl? and / or do you wish some of your tattoos had been in faith designs?

farouk, I grew up on "the other side" of life, you are going to have to use your imagination since this is not confession or time for giving my "testimony" as for faith based tattoos, I am old school, a resounding NO, not befitting the saints IN Christ Jesus.

I was wondering what you guys might think of what was said in a recent post:

Never a reason to condemn the young man who has an upside down cross in on their forehead. Or Pentagram.

Who cares? Love them.

The whole world is Godless and immoral, hostile at present, yet I can identify with Godless, immoral, hostile tattoed people since I grew up in a Godless, immoral and hostile environment.
I personally have no problem with God fearing, born from above tattoed believers living a Godly, unselfish style of life.
But hey, that's me, always swimming upstream.

@Johann My wife and I talked with a young lady with the whole of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist area; it was her favorite Bible verse and mine also. I reckon that for her to have gone ahead and done it, it may well have been a matter of being willing to swim upstream, conscious that as a permanent thing it might likely involve reproach, but taking the inking needles joyfully...

farouk, the whole world is in a mess and I would strongly advise the younger generation, especially believers in Christ, sealed with the Holy Spirit, and walking their talk not to get "ink" on their arms or wherever, it is not a good testimony since our Lord didn't get Himself "tattooed" and we follow His example, not the pattern of the world.

@Johann

I do appreciate your post.

You're in South Africa, right?

In North America it's very widespread. This is from the Bible Belt:

Around here (Bible Belt), it is common, especially among evangelical Christians, for the girls under about 40 to have religious tattoos. More do than don't, especially when you get to the under 30 crowd. I hardly know any female at church that is under 30 that does not have a tattoo.
