Sorry, the 1050 Imperatives I have is not from the Dake' concordance brother.Well, it’s Bible Highlighter and not “Jason/Bible highlighter.”
Oh, and yes. I did used to believe (past tense) that the New Testament commands from Finnis Jennings Dake (1050) were accurate (for the most part). But after much study, I found that Dake’s 1050 NT Commands are not an accurate list of New Testament commands. I made my own list of commands found in the New Testament and it is around 440 to my count so far. But I have yet to double check my work under tight scrutiny to release them publicly to the brethren. Anyways, the problem with Dake’s commands is that he repeats various commands and he constructs the commands based on similarity of the verbs and not how they naturally appear in the New Testament. He also has left out various commands. At that time in my life, I was focused a little too heavy on God’s laws. I now believe we must always stress the importance of God’s grace as being foundational and as the entrance gate to our salvation. I now believe there are clearly two aspects of salvation as taught in God’s Word, and I believe that one can have an unhealthy balance of either grace or works when they approach God’s Word. Some make it all about grace to the detriment of obedience to God, and others make it all about works to the detriment of grace. I was at that time in my life interested in creating a book on God’s commands, but that is not exactly something that I feel is correct now (Because it sends the wrong message that it is all about law with no grace).
In any event, may God’s love shine upon you (even if you don’t see my posts anymore and even if we disagree on what the Bible says).
