I live in a town but close to a nice park. I love the countryside though and am glad we have no dangerous animals in the UK; I think the worst one is an adder - a poisonous snake but I've never seen one.

For poisonous snakes here you have to travel east of the mountains or down to California. I'm glad we don't have any poisonous snakes in the pacific northwest. We went on a trip to Utah when I was a child and hunted rattle snakes. Never got one, but it was a family outing for the boys.I live in a town but close to a nice park. I don't think an adder is as venomous as a rattle snake and they are supposed to be easy to spot because they are black and yellow diamond pattern. I don't really know what habitat they inhabit. For poisonous snakes here you have to travel east of the mountains or down to California. When I lived in California we had black widow spiders nesting outside my apartment and in my parent in laws yard. They give a nasty bite and are dangerous. I went on hikes in the mountains but like you never saw a rattle snake so I guess I was lucky. But they were in the hills next to my parent in laws house.
Was it adam . That ol dog lived a long happy life . Yes indeed .Yes Devin! Happened about 14 years ago. I was living in the country and we have many wild animals here. When I got home from work, I would take my dog for long walks right up into the hills. This was when it was starting to turn darker as it was in the fall. We were doing our thing when suddenly everything became quiet. Now, my boy was not on a leash and I could tell he too sensed something, or caught a scent but, I put that leash on him and skedaddled out of there. From there on we pretty much stuck to the 9 acre yard ant other paths. He could always feel the warnings also on his own as, he sometimes hesitated by the tree line, wanting to go past it but he just would run to where ever I was. That was quite unnerving. Glad your okay!
They do that my friend . I once had a wolf hybrid huskey who would howl .We also live in the woods. Coyotes, wild hogs, snakes, bob cats, possums, armadillos, raccoons, rabbits, squirrels...usual things. We spend a lot of time outside day and night, so always on the lookout.
Our dog is a pit, yet when the coyotes start howling, he mimic’s them, weird. Do also from time to time, have an eerie notice, dog too.
My sister raised Siberian Husky's. They were very loud.what would be a funny site is if a certain orange and white picked it up . Poor sister would have a howling alarm clock .

So samantha started to do it . years later when i got the two blue heelers they picked it up from samantha .
Now my two blue heelers howl like wolves at times . Its funny to see it my friend .
Yes brother, it was Adam!! He had a great 5 years out there and was loved and taken care of every day of his sweet little life. I thank GOD that He blessed me so with that creature. Was it adam . That ol dog lived a long happy life . Yes indeed .
And I bet it made you a bit faster.@Pearl I now remember one of my runs from when I lived in California. It was a run thru a swamp trail that people had made on the hill next to the swamp. I remember jumping over a downed tree and on the other side as I looked down saw an enormous rattle snake. It was traveling on that side of the log long ways so it wasn't coiled and couldn't strike easily. But that made for an exciting thrill story for a while.
It was a little over 20 years ago, but I remember feeling like I was in God's protection. I think my heart sped up for sure. But yeah, I think I remember speeding up a little and not looking back at it out of caution to get some distance. And I bet it made you a bit faster.![]()
That nasty thing will put a quick bite on ya . Dont make it a pet my friend .I remember it having diamonds on it's back. It was really clear as I jumped over the log and the snake. I looked it up online and now realize how lucky I was that it didn't strike at me. It was when I was in between San Bernadino and San Diego working. I took a lunch break and went for a run:
Also know as the Western Diamondback, this snake is found in the southeast corner of the state between the altitudes of 0-7,000 feet, primarily in Imperial, Riverside, and San Bernadino counties, and is widely considered the most dangerous in California because of its large size and aggressive demeanor.
Here's a picture of one:

@Taken the Tribe here now has a few Casinos that they run. So that's their main source of income. But it hasn't always been that way.
@Taken So do you come from a Native American background? It’s strange in away. Indian TRIBAL nations, own governing authorities, yet still have connections with the Feds. Suppose it is through the tit for tat, “treaties”, “monies” a big deal for education, “IF” they yield to Federal/State type curriculums and some intertwining with State authorities.
Casinos, agree have boosted an impact on particular TRIBES, (some having more leniency for gambling games/ pay outs etc.) as I think also do their TOBACCO ventures, expand their wealth.
My brother, refers often to Some Tribal members, as “grandfather”, (that my brother most enjoys their company).
Not so much as the sitting “Chief” or “medicine man”, but seems more so, as an Elder wise in the Tribes History, old ways, intents, purposes?
sounds delightful. :) Wish I could come with you...No. Only known Indian connection is so far removed connections via my several generational connections to the Carson family, their Connection to Christopher “Kit” Carson and his several offsprings with two of his Indian wives.
There is a reservation near me, I sometimes visit their stores, eateries, and mingle with their proprietors and patrons.
sounds delightful. :) Wish I could come with you...
Indeed! Just musing out loud brother :)Many of my relatives are over 1,000 miles away. It’s a work of art, making visit arrangements, and you, somewhere between 7-8 thousand miles away...well, pretty amazing to be able to real time converse...a visit more complicated....but a nice thought. :)
