How about we cease trying to 'box' God...

I have a friend who was a nominal 'liberal' Lutheran visiting the country. He went to a backpackers for the night.

There he read a book by Nicky Gumbel about Jesus. At the end of the book there were instructions about how to become a Christian.

Being a good German he followed the instructions explicitly and 'wammo' he had a radical conversion - filled with the joy and peace of God, deeply knowing forgiveness, and was a totally changed man.

His conversion resulted in family members back in Germany coming to Jesus and in fact I baptised his mother in the sea back here in New Zealand.

He became a Pastor and missionary in France.

I have no doubt he was born again and was baptised later.

God deals with each individual as He wills.

We should not be looking for formulas in Scripture - the spirit moves like the wind - you don't know where He is coming from or where he is going.

Some folks like myself are born again and baptised later - later still I was baptised in the Spirit.

Scriptural formulas about how the Spirit should act are pointless.

This is a classic case of replacing the Father, Son and Holy Spirit with Father Son and Holy Bible.

Sure we can follow guidelines, but to insist the Holy Spirit must act according to our interpretations is folly after all who is Boss ?

You believe those goofy "scholars" that want to do away with baptism for the remission of sins, as they "debunk" the juicy pary of Mark(16:16).

Like this? ...

Yea, hath Mark 16:16 said, Ye that believeth and is baptized shall be saved?

With apologies to the “ You just might be a Redneck” comedian, Jeff Foxworthy , If you don’t make Water Baptism the ONLY way for a man to get Saved—- you just “ might” be an “Acts Skipper”

You have weaved a subtle lie into that statement, claiming water baptism as the ONLY WAY to get saved. Nobody has made such a claim. This is what scriptures teach...

John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not(unbelievers) shall be damned(unbelievers are not saved).

The term "Acts Skipper" comes from the fact many have skipped the book of Acts for SALVATION and went straight to the Epistles, which were written to the church and which were saved though the Book Of Acts.

Romans 1:7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 1:2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both their's and our's:

2 Corinthians 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia:

Galatians 1:2 And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia:

Ephesians 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:

PLEASE. What is the Acts Skippers ?
They are folks that claim to be saved without obeying Acts 2:38(being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of their sins as Peter commanded the 3000 at Pentecost).

They bypass Acts 2:38 and spend their lives trying to keep others from obeying it....

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

....which they loathe.

4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

7 And all the men were about twelve.

Paul and Peter preached the same message.

Why didn't you highlight verse 6? Paul laid his hands on them and then, and only then, did they receive the Holy Spirit. a) They were baptized with water -- for repentance! and b) they received the Holy Spirit afterwards.

Grace Rejectors , Religionists, Tares and most Of all, “ The Gospel That Saves Skippers” will be laughing out of the other side of their you-know-what’s someday.......laugh it up while you can ,Blind Guide....
Acts skippers also teach that Paul reformed the initial plan of salvation(Acts 2:38) and took Peter's keys to the kingdom.

Weird stuff.

All because they don't take baths.

According to your “ Wet Hair” Gospel, It must have been “ Dumb” God that pitted Paul against Peter during their contentious debate at Antioch....Peter was wrong about several things and he “ stood Condemned” as Paul boldly called him out before the crowd of Believers...If you had the sense and the humility to go beyond Acts2:8 you would see that Peter Lost out every time he argued with Paul, whether the debate was about Peter being a hypocrite and refusing to continue eating with Saved Gentiles when the Jewish Religionists came around, or if the debate centered or “ getting your hair wet” being the ONLY way to get the Holy Spirit.....in the end, both men came together and agreed that Paul was correct and “ BELIEF” in his Gospel ALONE was enough to enable one to be Blessed with the Indwelling Holy Spirit....

Of course the TRUE “ Acts Skippers” never See this....They get stuck and Acts2:38 and just * SKIP” the rest of the Book....That’s about as “ DUMB” as trying to preach the Book Of Revelation and thinking you are an expert teacher of that Book when you read the first two Chapters and quit! Aw, who really cares as long as their hair is wet...We all know that “The Righteous , by WET HAIR shall Live”
This is evidence from an Acts skipper that they teach that Paul stole Peter's keys.

Yes, the Acts/Mark skippers wish that passage would go away, even calling it a forgery because it irks them.

No, baptized in the name of Jesus for the remission of their sins.

I caught that, Acts skipper.

The Holy Ghost came after, as per Acts 2:38.

Good morning Acts skippers.

Sleep well?

I wouldn't sleep either if I realized I skipped Acts 2:38.

I would make it a priority to be baptized in the name of Jesus for the remission of my sins today, if I found that out.

I would worry about my "theological differences" some other time.

First things first.

It is better to have too much than not enough.

The Holy Ghost came after, as per Acts 2:38.

BORING!!!!

However, I will respond this time...

Acts 19:1-6, "While Apollos was in Corinth, Paul went through the inland regions and came to Ephesus. He found some disciples there and said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They replied, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.” So Paul said, “Into what then were you baptized?” “Into John’s baptism,” they replied. Paul said, “John baptized with a baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, in Jesus.” When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus, and when Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they began to speak in tongues and to prophesy."

It is perfectly clear here that there are two kinds of baptisms: John's baptism with water for repentance, and baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus, to receive the Holy Spirit. You can come up with all kinds of false doctrines, based on misinterpretations and Scriptural errors by taking words out of context, but this is what the Bible clearly says.

Your mind is caught in a web of self-deception. You post the same false doctrine over and over and over and over ad nauseum! And keep repeating the trite "Acts skippers" accusation -- but nobody is skipping Acts!

Acts 2:38 -- which you clearly twist into false doctrine -- is one verse only.

I would put you on "ignore" but I won't because I feel it necessary to refute your BORING posts so that the truth can be known.

Well you guys are still at it...

I wonder if you are praying for your neighbours to come to Jesus ???

With 73 posts that is between five and ten hours of disputing over words rather than seeking to bring the good news to the lost.

Now that you found boldness to post how Paul commanded REBAPTISM in the name of Jesus, I must point out that he made it essential.

He made it equally essential as having the receive the Holy Ghost.

This is cool because as in the passage, they had to qualify for the Holy Ghost via being baptized as in most cases in Acts.

But some cases they receive them Holy Ghost first to lead them to obey water baptism in the name of Jesus.

God does what it takes to get folks to be baptized in the name of Jesus for the remission of their sins.

Now that's Grace in ACTion.

Their is no “ subtle lie” emanating from me....This is EXACTLY the Claim That your Buddy, the wet- haired Gospel Skipper has made...Ive used Scripture to show you that your Doctrine is false....that is all that I “ can” do.....I have tried to use you “False and Perverted” so- called teachers as “ Springboards” in order to get Paul’s Gospel That Saves out there for the Newbies in the crowd so that they will have some Ammo when they have to confront Blind Guides like YOU out there in the Real World....I have accomplished that Mission....now I should just “ shake the dust off of my shoes” and move on....hopefully, the majority of viewers here are not as Stiff- Necked as you guys and will not parade their Biblical Ignorance around as if their Ignorance were a Virtue ....

With apologies to the “ You just might be a Redneck” comedian, Jeff Foxworthy , If you don’t make Water Baptism the ONLY way for a man to get Saved—- you just “ might” be an “Acts Skipper”......Essentially , you take a beautiful Rite that God has created for His Saved Children — *AFTER* they become Saved , as a public testimony to the world, and you Unbelievably turn it into an Idol....You make Acts2:38 the “ end all and be all” of the Word Of God and completely ignore Paul’s Gospel Of Grace, Found In 1Cor15, that is God’s actual Plan Of Salvation in this Present “Age Of Grace”....It is becoming better known as “ The Wet Hair Gospel Of Truther “ .....

Oh, haha..........NOT!
I DO NOT LIKE RELIGIOUS JOKES OR FUNNIES,EVEN ABOUT HERETICAL CULTS.

Thanks

Ok......
But as I've said the HOLY GHOST BAPTISM in Acts at Pentecost is waaaaaaaaaay more important than water baptism.

I'll stake my___________ on It!
Can you say the same about WATER baptism ?

I am serious about the God who rules the day, the night, the whole of the world unknown beyond any universe imaginable to us !

Maybe not to serious that I don't love humour but NOT about my Lord.
