Boy HOWDY!!!! - It's been a LONG time since I've heard that one.
Back in '63, the Southern Baptist Church (Greenwood Baptist in Pasadena Texas) I was initially propagandized in (New Convert's Class) taught that - i.e. God will KILL YOU, if that's what it takes to get you into Heaven before you sin your way out of grace!!!

These seem to be people who hadn’t had Christ formed in them yet like those mentioned in the Epistle to the Galatians (Galatians 4:19)

Sure men can “stumble” into to sin. The Ignorant are prime targets, easily fooled that something Wicked or Evil is presented as “good”.
SIN is NOT Believing in the Lord God.
Too many men confuse themselves with believing men can SIN against men.
And yet, YOU do not know, the “unsaved” are NOT born of God.
And yet, YOU contend against Salvation that given is Permanent.
No one has overlooked or denied all earthlings are born in sin.
Some Become forgiven, washed, covered, sanctified, restored, quickened......SOME DO NOT!

Becoming Saved, Quickened IN Christ requires NO Defense.
