So this is an angle that might cause some reflection: if a Christian daughter or son of yours worked as a tattoo artist, would you be supportive of the fact?

(Aspects which might be relevant: witness opportunities in faith based designs; sought-after skill outlet; whether or not someone somewhere would be offended influencing whether s/he did it at all, etc. ...)

Thoughts?
I can't support something God opposes.

I think, If I could get a lot of postmodern Christians to confidently and decisively (or some such word) encourage me to jump off a cliff with no parachute, I would do it, wouldn't you?

Farouk, Brother, you're killin' me here.

@BarneyFife I think the context of this was @dhh712 's contrasting thoughts on fickleness and wrinkles..........

Right. As well, have you ever been in the company or elderly women?
..And flower or butterfly tats would certainly be a more pleasant topic.
@Taken I guess this is also why this fairly new poll is about whether one would in theory be supportive of those who work with ink to give memorable moments...(Did you see the poll, above?)

Saw the poll. IDK, and don’t have to wonder, if that would be the case.

@Taken Yes, well....if you don't know whether you would or would not be supportive, I guess you could always vote 'Don't know' in the poll: there is a 'Don't know' option there.

Some moms out there might say they somehow found it a bit embarrassing that their daughter or son worked to give others memorable moments in ink. Other - themselves inked or not - would indeed still be supportive.

Obviously it's going to vary significantly from one person to another but then this I guess is part of the interest of a poll such as this, as ppl search their own thoughts as to how they would respond if they were in this situation.

Okay. I wouldn’t find it embarrassing, just don’t ever see that happening.

@Taken

Thanks for your poll vote.

Part of ppl's answers and overall context is the sheer, overwhelming size of the scope for work in this field.

I saw this quote (which rings true to me; does it ring true to you?)

Paula Castle took up tattooing after being made redundant from a sales job ..."I really did not want to do it. ...But I’m a bit of an all or nothing person so I said ‘yes’ and really pushed myself and I’ve not stopped...About 97% of my clients are female and that is universal across the board."

I did finally get my ears pierced ... Now my skin is two thin to get a scripture tat, which I wouldn't mind. Probably 1 John 3:23-24. And I don't mind shots and needles. I kinda like it.
@1stCenturyLady So I guess you were saying that if you had your time again you would likely have had it done, because you rather like the idea of a Scripture tattoo now.

Did you see the new poll, above, also?

@covenantee Thanks for your 'like', above.

I think this also clearly explains why evangelicals - especially women - in the Bible Belt - where dispensationalism is especially strong - get tattooed these days with such confidence:

Around here (Bible Belt), it is common, especially among evangelical Christians, for the girls under about 40 to have religious tattoos. More do than don't, especially when you get to the under 30 crowd. I hardly know any female at church that is under 30 that does not have a tattoo.

I just posted this on another thread - although it probably belongs just as well here, really.

I guess that a believing artist doing this kind of tattoo for someone can derive a strong sense of professional satisfaction linking in with testimony.

(The placement is probably more suitable for a man rather than a woman, though.)

@Taken So you 'liked' that quote in post #48, above, then?

It seemed to ring true to me, anyway.....

Liking a post, can be funky in a way...
Like what it is saying...
Like a person exercising their right to do as they please...
Like and want to do the same...
Even Liking the knowledge revealed, but not agreeing with it.

I like a person exercising their right to do as they please ... that causes no harm to others, while they are doing as they please....YET that does not mean I necessarily would ALSO choose to do AS they have chosen to do.

I have already chosen to Not have tats, regardless of
* WHY others choose to have tats:
* regardless of WHO others are per Gender, Age, Race, etc.....
* OR WHAT tats, others choose...skulls, cartoons, vulgar, flowers, butterflies, scriptural quotes, crosses...etc...
* OR Reasons FOR What tats others choose...

You are pro-tatting. And the Why, Who, What, Reasoning...is your interest, and interesting to see how those questions of why, who, what, reasoning...are questions answered from others perspective.

Doesn’t matter to me what an other chooses to do...
I can appreciate the beauty of some of the art-work, laugh at some of the terrible art-work, appreciate the beauty of lovely Scriptural quote, not want to see a vulgar writing, laugh at misspelled writing...
And still am not enamored by seeing tats, or consider, or desire one for myself.

Glory to God,
Taken
