Do forums increase my faith . NO way and no how , its often on forums that folks attack the true sound biblical doctrine of CHRIST .
But reading the bible increases my faith , the SPIRIT increases my faith . But often most on forums and most in churches
do nothing but attack truths that EVEN JESUS taught as well as the apostels taught .

And the security of the Believer is JESUS.

Nothing can make the Born Again more "eternally Secure" than to have "Christ in you, the hope of Glory", as "Glory" is Heaven.
The SECURITY of the BELIEVER IS JESUS . On that i say AMEN .
BUT what if our jesus contradicts THE JESUS of the bible . THAT ONE CANNOT SAVE .
SO we better learn JESUS , we better learn what the apostels taught . AND STOP LETTING MEN TWIST THINGS
unto their own destruction . BETTER MAKE SURE ITS JESUS YOU FOLLOW AND BELEIVE IN
cause if the jesus you beleive in is busy twisting to doctrine to support the teachings of men
I GOT NEWS , THAT AINT JESUS . BUT A BIG OL FAT AMEN to what you first said . JESUS IS OUR SECURITY
NOW let us GO and learn IF WE FOLLOW JESUS or are we following men who simply preach another jesus .

Yeah, that’s the only testing formula to expose heretics, huh?

Top of the list should be scripture deniers.

But Denying and twisting scriptures is of no use to you in detecting heretics.

I wonder why…
You might be amazed at some of the things i have heard and once even said myself when i too was lost .
I have seen folks in willfull sin , supporting and doing all kinds of evils and yet saying I CANT LOSE MY SALVATION
ITS SURE .
THEY , LIKE I ONCE WAS , DO NOT KNOW HIM , DO NOT FOLLOW HIM . ARE NOT BORN AGAIN
but rather have invented a jesus that accepts them as IS and thus have MADE CHRIST THE MINISTIR OF SIN .
ONLY SATAN is the MINISTIR OF SIN . JESUS AINT .

That’s good. Those who try to change the minds of others will fail every time.

The majority of the world’s population isn’t Christian. I don’t think that should depress Christians; I think that should motivate Christians.

People discuss topics that are important and / or of interest to them.
The theory of evolution was like the holy grail at that forum.

"Do you find your faith strengthened by these conversations or does it cause you to doubt?"

Not so much doubt, but more like questioning my beliefs now and again. Many here have gotten me to think and challenge what I believe, and to remain teachable. I try to stay away from the more nasty, controversial threads. Got to pick your battles in this jungle weather it be the deity of Christ to Calvinism to Trinity/trinity, and so on. the wheat has to grow with the tares. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Neither.
I am confident enough in what I know to be true and why I accept it as true that the NAGGING of those that disagree does not cause doubt. At the same time, the relentless droning of negative discussions that pass for Christian conversation on most (if not all) forums is about as far from ‘strengthening’ as being mugged is from ‘exercising’.

It just gets old and tired.
At which point, I take a time out to find another way to invest my time … typically for one to three months … that has nothing to do with forums of any kind. Sort of a forum ‘detox’ or ‘cleanse’ to wash out all of the crap that has built up.

That is where I find the REAL WORLD useful. Returning to the church and small groups and bible studies and any place else where you can meet with real Christians, face to face, and be part of listening and encouraging real people with real problems places JESUS back at the center of Christianity faster than anything else that I know. The man whose wife just left and is suddenly struggling to raise a daughter alone cares NOTHING about the fine points of the Calvinism vs Arminianism debate. The woman that just started chemotherapy for her cancer that is no longer in remission does not want to debate the role of WORKS in salvation. Faced with real people with real problems desperate for real answers, MY prayers become a lot more REAL and URGENT … “Dear God, please give me something to help them and don’t let me say anything wrong. They have enough on their plate without my adding any harm. What can I do?”

Eventually, I can return to the forums and just smile at the same-old same-old nothing-burger.
I would rate your post "Winner " if that was an option here.

I was on another "Christian " forum but it seemed there were more atheists and agnostics than Christians. Even most of the Christians there are evolutionists. It put me constantly defending my faith. On this forum the issue has been the deity of Christ. Does talking about these things increase your faith or cause you to doubt? Discussions about the Trinity and the deity of Christ have been run in the ground here. Do you find your faith strengthened by these conversations or does it cause you to doubt?
To your question, forum participation leads me to revisist the Scriptures over and over, which is faith building. My desire is to contribute to the body of Christ by my participation, and I know to do that I need the Holy Spirit directing my words and my thoughts, and I have to trust Jesus to live His life through me, and that is faith building.

Yes, these two debates seem to dominate many threads. But outside of those debates, I find many other ways that I am edified.

Sharing about myself, others sharing about themselves, our unity is increased. As we continue to be taught by each other, we learn new things, our understanding is increased. As we are inspired to make changes in our lives as we see the day drawing near, or as we see the need of greater love, or whatever it is, we increase in sanctification. As we pore over the Scriptures to know the meanings of these things we increase in the renewing of our minds.

All of these increases are the work of the Lord within us, and as we see in our lives the outworking of His promise our faith increases.

I think when God's children gather together in whatever fashion they may, it's a good thing!

Much love!

I love Acts 2.42; these activities will continue to be relevant until the Lord returns.......

Discussions about the Trinity and the deity of Christ have been run in the ground here. Do you find your faith strengthened by these conversations or does it cause you to doubt?
One particular benefit I find on forums is when I find someone interested in the discussion, who is knowledgeable about the Bible, who is able to articulate their arguments with clarity, and evenly, fairly, and who disagrees with me. And through my discussion with them I am able to both test my ideas and come to understand their ideas.

I've learned so much about how other people see things this way. I always need to make sure I'm not getting fleshy in the debate, it's easy to do if one is not paying attention.

I think one of the best things we can do for each other in this environment, after prayer, is to reflect back to each other what we understand them to be saying so they can let us know if we have the right idea.

I don't have a problem questioning myself on whether Jesus truly is YHWH, Creator of all. The truth is there, let it be known!

Much love!

Do forums decrease your faith?

If forums neither increase nor decrease your faith, then steady as she goes.

Overall I find it edifying. Satan has sown his leaven mainly in the church and it is full of false teachings. The Christian forums that are more agnostic I like to share my testimony and why I have faith in Jesus and answer honest questions, not the cynical ones.

Yeah, I can't deal with people being abrasive on this forum. I just ended a discussion with someone whose tone was just way too harsh, totally uncalled for. You don't beat people over the head with your beliefs; that's not going to change their mind anyway, being rude and belittling to the other person.

There's no reason at all why people who have different beliefs can't discuss them politely and respectfully with each other, which is what I strive for. When a discussion gets to that point on here (where the other person becomes aggressive), I drop out and let the other person know that their tone was too abrasive for me to continue.

Not to hijack this excellent thread, but have you seen the video on youtube, "Is Genesis History?" It has several dozen PhD scientists from a variety of disciplines. The film's climax is the recently learned 4D informational content of DNA that Darwin had no way of knowing. It is a compelling video that lays waste to the evolutionists idea that time explains all the variation in life forms.

Also, regarding the OP, iron sharpens iron. There is nothing wrong and everything good about learning from and because of each other. :)
