You're in luck Weber.... For many will live on earth forever.
Psalms 37:11 (KJV) - "... the meek shall inherit the earth;..."

Jesus even said it in the Sermon on the Mount.
Matthew 5:5 (KJV) - "Blessed are the meek; for they shall inherit the earth".

.
A good Christian friend of mine passed away back in 2006. At the time, I
knew the Bible quite a bit better than he did. The irony of that is: by the
time I get to Heaven he will know the Bible better; and I rather expect
upon arrival to be assigned to his class along with other newbies wherein my
friend will bring us all up to speed not only on things in the Bible that we
missed, but also the many things we misunderstood.

A word on resurrection. The meek - whether dead or living when Jesus returns - will inherit the earth.

Man was driven from paradise, from the Garden of Eden. Man will return to paradise, enter again the Garden of Eden.

God’s will for man has not been thwarted.

out of interest Matthias; you no doubt know punctuation to the scripture was added by later translators. Would you consider a comma after the word 'today'?

It changes the way that quote of Jesus is understood

It certainly does.

“I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Jesus didn’t go to paradise on the day that he died. Neither did the thief.

“I tell you today, you will be with me in paradise.”

And so he will, when he is resurrected to life as the Messiah returns to the earth.

Jesus is a resurrection man, not a die and go to heaven man.

I’m a resurrection man, because he is.

Sure Jesus and the malefactor went to Paradise, on THAT day.
Paradise IS where the Tree of Life is.
Who Eats of the Tree of Life maintains their soul Life.
The Tree of Life.....was in the Garden of Eden.....Paradise.
The Tree of Life.....was in the side of Hell with saved souls...Paradise.
The Tree of Life.....IS in Heaven with saved souls....Paradise.
The Tree of Life.....SHALL BE ON the new Earth....Paradise.

* In the Garden, Adam didn’t eat of that Tree...his soul had to be Saved
* In Hell saved souls were kept, UNTIL JESUS went there AND LEFT.
* Saved souls could not rise up to Heaven UNTIL Jesus went First.

[17] And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

Jesus was in the tomb for three days and three nights. The thief is still in his grave.

I’m in agreement with William Tyndale’s line of reasoning.

“And ye [Roman Catholics], in putting departed souls in heaven, hell, and purgatory, destroy the arguments wherewith Christ and Paul prove the resurrection. The true faith putteth the resurrection, which we are warned to look for every hour. The heathen philosophers, denying that, did put that souls did ever live. And the Pope joineth the spiritual doctrine of Christ and the fleshly doctrine of philosophers together; things so contrary that they cannot agree, no more than the spirit and the flesh do in Christian men. And because the fleshly minded Pope consenteth unto heathen doctrines, therefore he corrupteth the Scriptures to establish it … and again if the souls be in heaven, tell me why they be not in as good case as the angels be? And then what cause is there of the resurrection?”

What I Expect In Heaven
OP^

Jesus was in the tomb for three days and three nights. The thief is still in his grave.

Jesus came to earth.
Jesus’ body was killed on earth.
Jesus’ soul departed his body.
Jesus’ soul went to (comfort/Paradise side) of hell.
Jesus’ body was buried in (a Priests) cave.
Jesus’ soul returned to His body.
Jesus’ body rose up.

The thief was born on earth.
The thief was hung next to Jesus.
The thief confessed to Jesus innocence and belief in Jesus.
Upon the thief’s death, his soul was saved.
Once his soul was saved & his body dead;
The thief’s soul departed his body.
The thief’s soul went to (comfort/Paradise side) of hell.
The thief’s soul was with Jesus in Paradise.
Presumably the thief’s body was buried.
Once Jesus’ soul (and body) returned to Heaven;
(The Tree of Life, sent to Heaven, Where the Tree of Life is, is Paradise. All saved souls in (comfort/Paradise side) of hell, WENT to heaven).
The thief’s soul also Went to heaven.
The thief’s soul in heaven, (Paradise) waits for the Lord to descend to clouds.
The thief’s body shall rise from it’s grave (glorified).
The thief’s (saved) soul shall return it’s glorified body.
The thief’s saved soul, quickened spirit, glorified body, shall
Meet the Lord in the air (above the earth), called Rapture; Before Gods Tribulation begins coming down from Heaven.

Yes, the thief’s body is presently in it’s grave.
Yes, the thief’s saved soul is in Heaven (Paradise).

Glory to God,

That’s the popular view. I hold the primitive Christian view.

“Death for a Christian does not mean a shifting from one mode of being to another but the very destruction of life, the drifting of being into nonbeing. All the thinkers of Christianity have been trying to evade this notion of death as the complete destruction of life. Where they succeed, the notion of resurrection means next to nothing.”

(Seiichi Hatano, Time and Eternity, p, 214)

As I’ve said, I’m a resurrection man. I preach resurrection. That’s a minority position in Christianity.

Offered for historical perspective.

For if you have fallen in with some who are called Christians, but do not admit the truth of the resurrection and venture to blaspheme the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; who say that there is no resurrection of the dead, and that their souls when they die are taken to heaven: do not imagine that they are Christians; … But I and others are right-minded Christians on all points, are assured that there will be a resurrection of the dead, and a thousand years in Jerusalem, which will then be built, adorned and enlarged, as the prophets Ezekiel and Isaiah and others declare.”

(Justin Martyr, Dialogue With Trypho, Chapter 80)

Bold is mine.

“I believe the Church needs to recapture the classic Christian answer to the question of death and beyond, which these days is not so much disbelieved (in the world and church alike) as simply not known … The voice of the early Christians has not been disbelieved but simply not heard at all.”

(N.T. Wright, Surprised by Hope, p. xii.)

A dead body, that resumes living, has had its living soul returned to the body....of course Jesus had not ascended Back to where He came from.

Okay. Care to share with me a brief of what “a primitive Christian view”
Means?

Thanks Matthias.

God Bless,
Taken

“Primitive Christianity” is a term scholars often use when speaking about the early Christian Church, or about the early Christians; particularly in the first three centuries of Christian history.

Christian thinking has evolved over the centuries. You may have seen me recommend a book, written by a Lutheran scholar, with the title “A History of Christian Thought”. The title captures this change in thinking, on various matters, which has taken place in Church history.
