By definition salvation (being the gift of eternal life), is forever.

Still, there are many who are confused by the ongoing sin of people who claim to be saved. This is a great misunderstanding-- but it does not mean that salvation can be lost. And yes, there are many scriptures that can be cherry picked and presented to argue the point...but that does not take anyone who is actually saved, having been born [again] of the spirit of God, out of His hand, or that they can loose their salvation, because: It is no longer you who live, but God who lives-- salvation means you gave you life to God...and God is forever.

Yes, there are many ways you can ho hum your way around thinking about actually giving your life to God, but if and when you totally do surrender your life to God and give it to Him, it is finished: You are forever "in God" and He in you--and He is forever.

"God is the same yesterday, today, and forever."

So...now the matter of ongoing sin:

Just as Peter, having been "washed clean" by Christ, was embodied by Satan, causing Jesus to say "Get behind me Satan" to Peter...after we are born again of the spirit of God we can sin in the flesh without loosing our salvation-- Why? Because "we are alive and remain" in the world. This is the stumbling block that causes people to believe they can lose their salvation. But, again, this is a misunderstanding of what actually occurs. At no other time in history, not even those times when most of the scriptures were written, have people died and lived on in the flesh. These are those times...and the terms are different. And yes, it is written of in the scriptures-- If you don't know of them, keep searching, nocking, and asking.

Nonetheless, if you are saved, having been born again of the spirit of God, it is no longer you who lives, but God who lives...and He is forever. While you remain in the world...your old flesh is still subject to death and decay..and sin. But that body of flesh is passing away, just as all the world is passing away...and this is why we are counselled to remain faithful to the end--because it is as if we have been left in the grave, in death...without which we could not survive without faith and the knowledge that it is no longer we who live, but God who lives in us.

And we are here to serve--that is why we are left in the world...not to act out of our fleshly old bodies, but rather, to walk in the newness of life-- that life we have been given in the Spirit. Walk in the spirit.

So, yes, it is a daily labor to keep the old flesh under subordination of the spirit of God. But it is in Him that we have the strength to do so.

Until the End.

Amen and AMEN! :vgood:

Tantrum?
Again?

Listen, if you truly believed that the Cross of Christ is your Salvation, you would teach exactly that...
But you dont.
You teach...>"self saving"..

"listen everyone, according to most of my posts......i believe that if i hold unto my faith, i keep myself saved, as i dont trust Christ to keep me saved, UNLESS i do THAT".

You can't understand this, but other's see it clearly about you., Ferris.
Really! All you gotta do is post the scripture that says this!

I wasn't trying to insult you. I genuinely think you simply do not know the whole counsel of scripture.

Trying to sound like a teacher again?
It does not work for you.

See, you have exactly 1 "counsel".. according to your posts.

= "Im trying to hold unto my faith, so that i dont go to hell".

There is your entire self saving Theology, as its the entirety of your "counsel" Ferris.

I want to be a scriptural Christian. The Old Testament is scripture for Christians to learn from and be perfect in the faith.

Paul says so too:

“And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Timothy 3:15-17)

So I hope you don't eat pork, scaleless fish, animals without cloven hooves, do not mis fabrics, and if you have kids that decide to live in rebellion- trake themn to the gates of yo0ur town and stone them.

Warning: Sarcasm forthcoming!

We don't want you to fail to be perfect now do we????????

Not rejecting faith is more accurate.
Not turning away from faith.
That is the warning of scripture.

Uh huh, and that warning is to UNCONVERTED believers.
Uh huh, and the CONVERTED are in no need of Warning, BECAUSE they already HAVE the greatest Power of ALL Power...IN THEM.

When you are mature in knowledge of the sacred writings you don’t make unlearned comments like those…

He is making the distinction between water baptism that gets you wet, and Spiritual Baptism that is the Holy Spirit birthing the spirit in a believer as BORN AGAIN...., because they have believed.
After they do, they should be water baptized, as you find everyone in the New Testament being water baptized after they believe.

God requires FAITH.....not water, to save you.
Just ask the dying Thief on the Cross.

Don't be so arrogant to think you are above this warning:

Don’t confuse arrogance with assuredness!

"20...you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but be afraid. 21For if God did not spare the natural branches, He will certainly notg spare you either.22Take notice, therefore, of the kindness and severity of God: severity to those who fell, but kindness to you, if you continue in His kindness. Otherwise you also will be cut off.
" Romans 11:

1 John 3:
[19] And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.

The blood of Christ is the only thing between me and the kingdom of God.
He saved me and keeps me saved.
I receive that salvation THROUGH FAITH.
No faith - no salvation.
This used to be Christianity 101.

The question is not ABOUT HOW one becomes SAVED.
The question IS about...why you HEED WARNINGS TO NOT FALL AWAY....WHEN a SAVED and CONVERTED MAN “CAN NOT FALL AWAY”.

A Converted man ....... IS FAITH-FULL, not as you proposed, faith-less.

A Converted man.........Don’t ONLY give lip service ... saying, I AM SAVED.....but then pretend he has to heed warnings, and duck, run, hide, avoid standing face to face with EVIL, with the WICKED, for fear they might fall away.......NO! A Converted man HAS the POWER of God IN him.......to COMMAND EVIL to step aside, get behind him....to COMMAND the Wicked to step aside.....

GET IT?
One heeding a Warning, diverts themselves.
One with the POWER of God IN him, COMMANDS the Evil/Wicked to divert, depart, leave!

GET IT?
Believers...are the ones diverting, running away.
The Converted.....are the ones WiTH THE POWER of God to COMMAND...and WITH the ARMOR of God to COMMAND.

Matthew 16:25
For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.
"Losing" ones life in this case, is to have laid it down as given completely to Jesus and to God, holding on to nothing yet to be done by the person, for Christ has already done all. This is salvation in Christ.

According to this passage, how does a person remain in the Son and the Father and the promise of eternal life if they were never really in them to begin with?

"24As for you, let what you have heard from the beginning remain in you. If it does, you will also remain in the Son and in the Father. 25And this is the promise that He Himself made to us: eternal life." 1 John 2:24-25

I'm okay if someone says the above warning/exhortation is always effective at keeping a saved person believing in the gospel by which they were saved. What I can't accept is the teaching that directly contradicts this passage and says even if the word does not remain in you you still remain in the Father and the Son and the promise of eternal life.

Your Post # 1995

Ferris, First you say Warnings are for “SAVED BELIEVERS”...
Then you switch to “BELIEVERS”, to keep in Belief.

THOSE ARE TWO “DIFFERENT”
Believers and SAVED Believers are NOT the SAME people.

Believers, ARE WARNED, BECAUSE...Believers CAN FALL AWAY.
SAVED Believers, CAN NOT FALL AWAY...WARNINGS are irrelevant.

No. Warnings ARE NOT for the SAVED CONVERTED “IN” Christ.
To teach that, IS TO TEACH, keep heeding the Warnings TO: keep yourself from evil spirits and wicked men.......BECAUSE THE POWER of Christ “IN” a man, is not sufficient.
First off too many folks are putting true believers into the camp of the same kind of believer i once was . That kind of believer i once was
I got news , WASNT BORN AGAIN PERIOD . THUS was NOT saved . I had head knowledge , i had heard the gospel .
I even beleived it . Could and did preach to an atheist in the marines . YET i was lost as he was .
SO lets stop believing that all truly believe . What JESUS are they believing in . NOW That is the question .
AND boy do i have news . IF IT is a jesus contrary to the biblical one , THEY BEEN DUPED BIG TIME .
So lets establish that truth FIRST .
Secondarily , if the early church , even paul himself , warned if one does not continue in CHRIST to the end
I SUGGEST we do the same . That kind of speech can wake up some of those who sleep and have been lulled to sleep
under another JESUS . ALL warnings and all reminders MUST be continously reminded .
IN the end those who came out , WERE NEVER OF US . That is TRUE . LEt no man say otherwise . AND the reason i say it
is because ITS IN THE BIBLE . TOLD ya i stick to the bible . BUT SO are all warnings and all reminders .
AND if peter acknowledged and john acknowledged that those to whom they were writing , WERE ALREADY ESTABLISHED IN THE TRUTH
and YET THEY WARNED THEM TOO . I SUGGEST we do the same . THERE is a reason the SPIRIT DOES AS IT DOES .
AND that reason is for the good of those who do follow . IT even helps those who have slipped .
TIME TO stop preaching acroynms and time to start speaking ALL the TRUTH .
PS , MOST FOLKS THINK they are saved . MOST ALL folks within christendom THINK They are born again .
AINT TRUE . Aint true at all . NOT even close . ITS TIME we preach and teach and point to the biblical CHRIST .
The way to both know and do that , IS LEARN THY BIBLE FOR YOU and cease from what men have been a teaching .
TIME to strap on all the armour of GOD . TIME to embrace ALL the warnings and all the reminders and EVERY word written .
Cause the moment we start twisting stuff and omitting stuff , AINT GONNA MAKE IT .
I seem to notice that MOST that say no matter what i do i cant LOSE salvation , SURE SEEM TO BE QUITE WORDLY .
YOU know , they seem to have no problem celebrating halloween , or watching shows on TV , or
even defending or overlooking gay marriage , EVEN WITHIN THE CHURCH . and many other things they do .
NOW WHY IS THAT . Exactly . SOMETHING HAS WENT WRONG in their walk . TIME TO RETURN TO THE BIBLE
LEARN THAT GOD , LEARN HIS CHRIST and LEARN ALL SOUND DOCTRINE .

That is an oxymoron, “remain in, if they were never in”.
That is about Hearing......IF what you HEARD remains IN YOU...

IF is a caveat....a CONDITION.
IF that condition met.....so also will you remain IN the Son and IN the Father.

Learn the REST OF IT.......THE BIG REVEAL...What about The Son and the Father.......BEING “IN” YOU?

I am not naive to not know, there are people who don’t give a rip about God, BUT will use the vulnerability of men, to further their own agenda... SAY this, oh, oh, oh....this “church organization” will enter his name in “their” books...full fledged member....and whoop, whoop, CONTACT access, to ever other member.
I know men who ARE atheists, AND who are members of “CHURCHES”.
It’s their personal CONTACT list for their “whatever” business; plumbing, building, electrical, lawn care, blah, blah...and brag about “their personal contacts”!

Men who attempt to fool other men with their schemes, may be fooled by other men, may be discovered and SHAME God with their scheme...but they DO NOT fool God.

Men know who they are. What they do and do not truly Believe...and so does God.

Every person making a declaration of Belief, in the Lord Name, is themselves thoroughly examined IN their Hearts thoughts BY God Himself.
