Any thoughts on what type of work God is always doing?
Jesus said- “My Father is always at his work to this very day..” (John 5:17)
God oversees all of His creation, and even notes when a little sparrow falls. At the same time He is drawing men to Christ, while performing countless miracles of healing every day. Then there is the matter of teaching and guiding and watching over His children. And all that is a lot of work.Any thoughts on what type of work God is always doing?
According to my beliefs, God never stopped "working" even after he stopped creating. It was his creative works that he "rested" from.Any thoughts on what type of work God is always doing?

He sorts people into paradise or prison. I've heard from one church I attend that he is about the eternal life of man. So I think that is the work.Any thoughts on what type of work God is always doing?

Sorry to go off topic a bit here, but I am always amazed when people quote the KJV as if it is still the language of the 21st century....John 5:17-21 KJV
It was really that simple, wasn't it....?Jesus did what He saw the Father do, so what Jesus did was what the Father does.

...Which is easier? And why stick to a Bible written in what is now, a dead language?

You too are at liberty to use whatever translation you prefer, but when explaining scripture, you do your readers no favors if they are unfamiliar with a language we no longer speak. Your preference may hinder their understanding....You are quite at liberty to use whatever translation you prefer. But I love the KJV for the majesty of it's language and the beauty of it's poetry, and will continue to quote it.
Who is "our" when you speak of tradition and heritage? And, I might add, it is an important part of our tradition and heritage, and it lives for me.

The principle in 1 Corinthians 14:8-9 comes to mind...(NASB)
"For if the bugle produces an indistinct sound, who will prepare himself for battle? 9 So also you, unless you utter by the tongue speech that is clear, how will it be known what is spoken? For you will be speaking into the air."
Its more about the way people understand what you say or write, than you own personal preference for poetic language that is not so easily understood by others.

I don't think guesswork should be part of Bible reading or study though....do you?I think most people, familiar with scripture, can make a reasonably accurate guess as to the meaning of passages from the KJV. And if they are not familiar, that is not a fault I can rectify.
Thank you, I didn't notice that you were in the UK....Widely, the English speaking world. More narrowly, the UK.

Do you have a "big picture" in your Bible reading? Does the Bible tell you "one story" from Genesis to Revelation? Can you pick up the thread in Genesis and follow it through to Revelation? For me personally that "one story" is how I fit everything in. I used to have bits and pieces but never knew where they belonged in the Bible's narrative. An ongoing study over many years has allowed me to put all the pieces where they fit....perfectly.Hmmm, whether or not it should be, it most certainly is. Often enough, the Bible (whatever translation) can only hint at eternal truths and leaves us to work out what they are. And, surprise, surprise, we are all apt to arrive at differing conclusions, depending on our background, our knowledge, our experience, and our spiritual stature. The Bible is a light in darkness, not a text book. And I think our differing interpretations are a good thing, for it keeps the faith alive in our conversations. Just take this thread as an example!
