Baptists believe in ordinances rather than sacraments. God saves "just because" (Ephesians 2:1-9) and we obey because He changed us and "said so" (Ephesians 2:10).

Baptist Faith and Message
VII. Baptism and the Lord’s Supper

Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior, the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. It is a testimony to his faith in the final resurrection of the dead. Being a church ordinance, it is prerequisite to the privileges of church membership and to the Lord’s Supper.

The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby members of the church, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, memorialize the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming.

Matthew 3:13-17; 26:26-30; 28:19-20; Mark 1:9-11; 14:22-26; Luke 3:21-22; 22:19-20; John 3:23; Acts 2:41-42; 8:35-39; 16:30-33; 20:7; Romans 6:3-5; 1 Corinthians 10:16,21; 11:23-29; Colossians 2:12.

true Christian’s believe in seven real sacraments

according to eph 2:8 you are saved? When we’re you saved?

Babble on...Mary, Mary, Mary...

Prayer beads or Rosaries are used by members of various religions such as Roman Catholicism, Orthodox Catholicism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, and Bahá’í Faith to count the repetitions of prayers, chants or devotions.

~pope francis...chrislam.
This is one of the more idiotic arguments.

Sooooo, because other religious use prayer beadsWE shouldn’t??

Other religions use holy books.
Should YOU dispose of your Bible??

Other religions employ prayer postures, such as getting on their knees to pray.
Should Christians STOP this practice?

Rom. 14:11
for it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.”

I could list similarities ALL day long – and you’d STILL be clueless . . .

Nonsense.
Thanks for showing how LITTLE you know about the Letters of Ignatius.

Letters of Ignatius real or forged are irrelevant.

Protestant scholars ...

Opinions of historical or modern “Protestant scholars”, carry no more weight than Opinions of “catholic scholars”.

Bottom line: - YOU are quoting long-debunked claims about these Letters that most serious historians no dismiss . . ..

Bottom line... Following MEN, words of men, teachings of men, preaching of men......that are NOT Verified Valid by the Word of God...
IS YOU Following False teachers...

You SHOULD learn YOUR consequences for YOUR choices.

He said that to Jews, believers in the God of scripture. People who prayed to the God of scripture. The people without whom there'd be no Canon of scripture, the people who formed the first Christian church in Jerusalem and met at the temple. The people whom God chose to reveal Himself through. The People who hated Rome with a passion. The nation destroyed by Rome with the faith co-opted by Rome.

Your faith is a pagan fantasy with a veneer of Christ.

This time, I’ll START OFF by exposing the fact that you completely ignored all of the examples of repetitious prayer in Scripture that is pleasing to God.

As to your litany about the Jews – this was nothing but DEFLECTION because I nailed you on another LIE.
YOU said that Jesus never addressed paganism in Matt. 6:7 - -and I proved you WRONG.

Finally – you credit the Jews with the Canon of Scripture.
Ummmm – it WASN’T the Jews who gave us the NT Canon – it was the Catholic Church guided by the Holy Spirit as promised by Jesus (John 16:12-15).

Now – how about addressing the examples of repetitious prayer I presented??

REALLY??
Ignatius’’s Letters
are a matter of HISTORY – not Gospel.

They are every bit aas reliable in giving us a picture of life in the 1st century as the Declaration of Independence gives us a glimpse into the 18th century.
They are rejected by fringe fundamentalists because they sound just a little “too Catholic”.

The truth hurts . . .

You should BELIEVE and DO as your chosen church dictates.
I have chosen Christ’s Church as my Church.
Per Christ’s Church Members: NO BEADS were taught to have or use.
Per Gods People Israel: NO BEADS were taught to have or use.

You have a made up “catholic tradition”, likely some of your early “catholic council participants” borrowed the idea from Hindus’ who have an ancient history of using prayer beads.

Rom. 14:11

LOL - That verse IS irrelevant to the topic of prayer beads!

@Taken The point is to measure the professing church by the Word of God, rather than the other way round...........

You talk about “Tradition” like it’s a four-letter-word – yet YOU and your fellow ignorant Catholic-haters stake your very SALVATION on the Catholic Tradition of the NT Canon of Scripture.

What a hypocrite . . .

according to eph 2:8 you are saved? When were you saved?
Trick question! :)
  • According to Ephesians 1:4 "He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world" ... so I was saved "before the foundation of the world."
  • According to Romans 5:6-11 "we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son" ... so I was saved when Christ died on the cross and was resurrected.
  • According to Romans 10:10 "with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation" ... so I was saved when I believed and confessed.
  • According to Matthew 24:13 "the one who endures to the end, he will be saved" ... so I will be saved when I have finished the race.
However, Ephesians 2:8 says "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God" .... making it clear that WHENEVER the WHEN, there is no doubt about WHO did the saving and deserves all the credit ... God: Father, Son and Spirit.

MUCH of what people CLAIM Ignatius wrote, IS a mix of WHAT Paul taught, and Ignatius made up....

Aw, too bad the truth hurts you.
I am quite content with Paul’s teaching, and ignoring Ignatius and his supposed letters...that are where?

Your post was about, praying TO saints.

Rev 5:8 is not about praying TO saints.
Rev 5:8 IS about THE 4 beasts and 24 Elders having care of the golden vial FULL of Odours, Which ARE the prayers of saints, that THEY present to the Lamb of God.

Nothing about earthly saints, praying TO heavenly saints.

Rev 5:
[8] And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.

thats cos is don’t mean salvation but redemption

No one is saved until the end Matt 24:13
Mark 13:13
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Rev 2:26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

Heb 3:14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;

Heb 6:11 And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:

1. Romans 11:22 – God’s kindness, if you continue in His kindness

2. Colossians 1:21-23 – holy and blameless, if you continue in the faith"

3. The race of faith: the example of Paul

4. Hebrews 12:22-25: "we shall not escape if we turn away from Him"

5. Hebrews 4:1-3, 9-12: "strive to enter the rest of God"

6.Hebrews 6:4-9 – those who became partakers of the holy spirit and fell away

7. Hebrews 10:23-29, 35-39: "if we sin willfully", "if anyone draws back".

8. Matthew 24:13: He that endures to the end, the same shall be saved

9. Hebrews 3:4-6: Holding fast our confidence firm until the end

10. Matthew 24:13: "But the one who endures to the end will be saved"

11. 1 John 2:24-25 – "if what you heard from the beginning abides in you"

12. 2 John 8-9 : to "everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ

13. 2 Peter 1:5-11 : "Make every effort to supplement your faith"

14. Philippians 2:12-16: "work out your salvation with fear and trembling"

15. 1 Timothy 6:10-16: the love of money

16. Galatians 5:2-4 "Severed from Christ"

17. 2 Timothy 2:11-13: "if we deny him, he will also deny us"

18. James 5:19-20: the wandered brother

19. Some will abandon the faith

20. 1 Timothy 5:8: "he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever"

22. The real family of Jesus: "Those who hear the Word of God and do it"

23. 1 Corinthians 5:5: "so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord"

24. Peter 2: "It would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness"

25. Jude: "Turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness" - a much relevant warning

26. 1 Cor. 9:27 ....Lest I myself might become a castaway

27. Heb 1:14 shall be heirs of salvation

Romans 1:5
By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:
(Must remain obedient)

(He who endured to the end) one who dies in a state of grace united to Jesus Christ by faith and baptism!
Mk 16:16 acts 8:36-38 1 pet 3:21
Matt 24:13

Romans 13:11
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

So salvation by “faith alone” is completely false and impossible if baptism is rejected!

Ummmmm, and YOU have read Paul’s ORIGINAL Letters?
The ORIGINAL Gospels?
Acts of the Apostles
in Luke’s own writing?

As you know – or SHOULD know – all we have are copies of copies of the originals.
So – YOU have to place your trust in the Catholic Church as the faithful guardian of the Deposit of the Faith (2 Tim. 1:14).

Unfortunately – you pick and choose what is “true” – as long as it suits YOUR point of view . . .

An ignorant Catholic is NO better off than an educated Protestant . . .

LOL...You can’t stand on your own merit so want to have deflective debate on catholic VS Protestant IGNORANCE? :jest:

You would never have even HEARD of Jesus Christ, had it NOT been for the Catholic Church and the CATHOLIC Tradition of the New Testament.

Copies of Scripture have from Ancient days been taught, to make and distribute... nothing new.

I have a FAITHFUL guardian, call Christ Jesus, He was neither called a catholic or called His Church catholic. Simple...nothing catholic!

Is Ignatius mentioned in Scripture as having some importance? Uh, no.

Unfortunately – you pick and choose what is “true” – as long as it suits YOUR point of view . . .

LOL...not Unfortunate at ALL. DUH, Scripturally taught to RIGHTLY Divide the Word of Truth. ONLY A FOOL would believe the ENTIRETY of Scripture applies to him.
