That is a dreadful commentary on what is written...when it actually tells us that the words are spirit and must be spiritually discerned, and that we are to hear what the spirit says--rather than plug our ears, as your clever comment would suggest.I take the Bible at face value - I don't read things into it.
No, it's not. You have to take the Bible at face value. That is a dreadful commentary on what is written...when it actually tells us that the words are spirit and must be spiritually discerned, and that we are to hear what the spirit says--rather than plug our ears, as your clever comment would suggest.
Go on then, "Keep on hearing, but do not understand; Keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’ Isaiah 6
Saying "No" to the Spirit is the same as saying "Yes" to the flesh. No, it's not. You have to take the Bible at face value.
The Spirit and the Bible are two different things.Saying "No" to the Spirit is the same as saying "Yes" to the flesh.
No, "God is spirit"--that's the point. You can't "take the bible at face value" as you said. It must be "spiritually discerned."God isn't a book.
I don't remember saying you can't "take the bible at face value." I think you do have to take it at face value. For instance, the letters of Paul are the letters of Paul. No, "God is spirit"--that's the point. You can't "take the bible at face value" as you said. It must be "spiritually discerned."
You said you have to take the Bible at face value. I said you can't, that it is spiritually discerned.I don't remember saying you can't "take the bible at face value." I think you do have to take it at face value. For instance, the letters of Paul are the letters of Paul.
But you do have to take the Bible at face value, it seems to me. Otherwise, what good is it? That doesn't mean we shouldn't walk with the Lord. The Lord is the boss, not the Bible. You said you have to take the Bible at face value. I said you can't, that it is spiritually discerned.
If you walk with the Lord--you are doing it right. But you do have to take the Bible at face value, it seems to me. Otherwise, what good is it? That doesn't mean we shouldn't walk with the Lord. The Lord is the boss, not the Bible.
The Bible is truthful - if it quotes God or Jesus as saying something, then God or Jesus said it.If you walk with the Lord--you are doing it right.
However, it was and is you who is advocating for the idea that one must consider the Bible first as if it were His face. All I am pointing out (as did Paul who said the words "are spiritually discerned"), is that "all language" has been purposely "confused" by God to confound those who do not have His spirit and read the Bible merely as a literary work, which it is not.
But we need not get hung up on it, I was just chiming in on the idea of "reading into" what is written. Please carry on. Sorry if it was an interruption. Hopefully it has been helpful.
