Catholic Theology tries to tie everything into WATER WATER WATER as their phony bible teaches that you are "born again by WATER".
That's interesting, as the NT, Paul, and the apostles, and the Holy Spirit teach that you are born again by the HOLY SPIRIT.
The Catholic Cult, and the Jehovah's Witness cult are the prime offenders regarding teaching that WATER is required for the new Birth.
This GARBAGE theology is known as "baptismal regeneration".

Some of them have told me that the Holy Spirit applies the Blood of Christ at the ceremony of water baptism.

There is no such thing in Scripture, not even a hint of such a thing!

NO! Repentance is salvation. Repentance is a change of mind that accepts Christ. Paul told us when we are saved.

Eph. 1:13
"In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,"

Salvation comes from within, user. It's a change of mind and heart when one hears the Gospel and believe it.

The word "believing" is a mode of thinking, not of feeling. When the Gospel is heard, man has no choice but to make a decision, he will accept that truth in repentance, or reject it, and it happens immediately.

Rom. 10:8-10
"But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

It all takes place in the mind and heart of man, and instantly when the Gospel is heard and accepted.

And then comes water baptism as the outward confession of what took place in the heart when you believed.

The sins were forgiven at the repentance, which was your salvation!
Repentance alone is not NT salvation.

Salvation entails repentance as the sinner's part, water baptism in the name is Jesus Christ for the remission of sins as the Church's part, and receiving the Holy Ghost as God's part.(Acts 2:38)

Everyone has a part in salvation.

This is why Jesus said whosoever sins you remit they are remitted....

Everyone has a part in salvation.

This is why Jesus said whosoever sins you remit they are remitted....

When Christ told the Apostles 'Whosoever sins you remit, they are remitted unto them, and whosoever sins you retain, they are retained," was immediately after He breathed on them and they received the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit did not come to dwell in man until Pentecost, Acts 2. What Christ did was give them the power of the Holy Spirit to take the Gospel to Israel. They were empowered for this task until Pentecost came.

Christ gave them the authority, by the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit to announce to those who believed, their sins were forgiven.

No man had this authority, and Christ gave it to the 12.

By the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit all believers now have this authority to tell the one who accepts the Gospel of Jesus Christ, believing in the death, burial and resurrection, what Christ has done for us, his sins have been forgiven.

We have this power from the Holy Spirit, and we have it written in Scripture as proof that their sins have been forgiven.

How did the 12 remit sins?...

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Do you practice the highlighted?

If not, why not?

Ephesians rightly speaks of saved by grace...

Ephesians 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

It is important to know to whom it was written...

Ephesians 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:

How did the saints to whom the epistles are written get saved...
om

John 1:17
"For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ."

John is making a distinction between "law" and "grace" thereby making a distinction between the two major covenants found within the Bible, the OT law of Moses is "law" and the NT covenant of Christ called "grace". Jeremiah makes this distinction in Jeremiah 31 between the "new covenant" and the "covenant...made with their fathers".

Hence "law" refers to the law of Moses and "grace" refers to the NT law of Christ.

The purpose of the OT covenant was to define sin, that with sinning comes punishment and that sin separates one from God (Rom 7:7; Isa 59:2) Rom 6:23). The NT covenant provides a solution for the problem sin presented and that solution is grace. The NT tells us of the redemptive work of Christ dying on the cross for man's sins and this forgiveness of sins is a matter of God's grace and not by works of merit. Therefore Acts 2:38 is part of "grace", it is part of Christ's NT covenant whereby thru repentance and baptism God graciously remits sins solving the sin problem found within the OT law. The term "grace" (the NT) sums up God's plan of salvation for man solving the sin problem and that gracious plan requires belief, repentance, confession and baptism on the part of man to receive God's grace.

No I don't practice the bold in your post! It's the blood of Jesus Christ that cleanses from sin!

Being baptized in a body of water has nothing to do with that!

Show me in Scripture this magical powers of your water baptism.

Do you not know that crediting water baptism with what only the blood of Christ can do is heresy?

Show me in Scripture where the blood of Christ cleansing sin has anything to do with water baptism, other than the symbol of that blood washing.

If you are not baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins you have no remission of sins.

There is no plan "b".

Only an atheist would declare Acts 2:38 to be black magic.

As per atheistic, anti Acts 2:38 Christendom....

38 Then THE GREAT WIZARD Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins BY MAGIC INCANTATION OF SAYING "JESUS", and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Well call Charlie an atheist! It doesn't bother me, only what God calls me!

Replace "for the remission of sins" with "because of the remission of sins," and you will have the truth.

Go online and study the the Greek word "eis" to see the host of words it can mean.

The translators picked the wrong one!

Man is saved the very instant he repents, on the spot, not in a pool of water.

And "because of the remission of sins" not "for the remission of sins."

Salvation took place at "repent" in Acts 2:38, and then be baptized because your sins were forgiven.

The name of Jesus is not a magical incantation.

It is the name of the Groom that the bride takes in baptism.

Imagine what the Lord thinks of your carnal rhetoric.

Not cool, Charlie.

Live in the lie, my friend. I can only show you the truth.

My grandpa used to say, you can lead a mule to water but you can't make him drink!

Anti-baptismalists have faith in their faith.

Obeying Acts 2:38 is for those that have faith in Jesus name.

Per Charlie and his modernists....

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent AND YOU ARE SAVED, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ BECAUSE YOU ALREADY REPENTED AS I UNNECESSARILY SAID TO REPENT AFTER BAPTISM FOR NO REAL REASON, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

....as Charlie and the modernists skip baptism in the name of Jesus because they think Peter was trippin'.
