Yes, ecumenism is condemned by the Bible
Ecumenism
the principle or aim of promoting unity among the world's Christian Churches.
I know it is history....but at no time does Christ or the Apostles suggest multiple denominations, much less 30,000.
I run into them all the time.I don't see too many KJB Onlyists believing this way.
Even G rated movies have bad and disturbing things in them. Just Google it.
The point here is that if a movie is not Christian, what business does a Christian have in watching it?
Can you honestly watch a movie these days without sins being pushed upon you in some way?
Remember, garbage in and garbage out. You reap what you sow.
A Christians should do all things to the glory of God.
There is no glorying God when you watch a sinful or worldly movie.
Well I disagree on three levels....
The Bible does not discuss plays on the stage like back in those days.....Oh but that is history and you have your own reality in your head.
Of course the Bible does not discuss movies....so it cannot be a biblical sin....one of the best example of men making fake sins. Personal opinions do not equate to sin.
With this line of thinking you could make most everything we do be a sin....sports, boating, camping etc.
But that does not mean a person cannot like a show, but it is not a sin. And what I do not like is the media using sinful propaganda commercials during G rated shows. LGBTQ
Pornography comes from an antient Greek word....pornografía....writings or paintings. And it is history so you may not understand it....in those days it was everywhere, Roman homes could have it on the floors, walls, and ceilings and a whole lot statues out in public. I am surprised that Christ and the Apostles did not directly address it. The Apostles had to change the meaning of some Greek words because the Greek language did not have words for Christian morals, but pornografía is a Greek word....so they could have used this word to address the subject. I just do not know why they did not address it.
Modern pornography....watching prostitutes having sex. The scriptures do define prostitution as a sin, so on that merit I believe pornstars are sinning. Is watching prostitutes having sex a sin? Of course the scriptures do not address this even though back in those days it was easy enough to watch prostitutes having sex. Considering that it did not take long for Christianity to adopt the belief that sex and women were dirty, nasty, and sinful and of the devil.....even sex within marriage was eventually condemned, one has to wonder where they got all that....it is not from the scriptures. So watching prostitutes having sex is not a biblical sin....directly. But the scriptures do cover personal opinions as sins. Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin. James 4:17 Of course this verse occurs just before the discussion on the sins of the rich and what a person "knows" can be a personal opinion. But still I believe that if you believe something is wrong it can be a sin onto you.....not a biblical scripture but for me it applies to pornography in that supporting the industry of pornography or patronizing it causes others to sin and there are scriptures about causing others to sin. It is still a grey area because it can apply to so many things. Some people think that driving an automobile is a sin so if you drive a car......
Of course some point to open ended scriptures but that is the bread and butter of those that want to twist and add meanings to the scriptures. I do not have issues with nudity and in ancient time it could be argued that breasts were not considered nudity. There is no discussion in the scriptures about women covering up when they breast feed their babies. Most of this is governed by the fake sins associated with the false beliefs that has been promulgated that sex, women, and nudity is dirty, nasty, and sinful and of the devil. The tentacles of these beliefs have skewed the understandings of many things. What is purity? Many believe that you have to be virgin to be pure....so mommies cannot be pure. So it was important to believe that Miriam was a virgin after God impregnated her....and God having sex with Miriam was out of the question because it is so dirty, nasty, and sinful. Augustine believed in contagious sin through sex and that babies were born with sin.
The Old Testament limits nudity to the pubic area and whose pubic area you should not uncover.
Some would say that string bikinis are nudity.....I do not and of course the scriptures are not going to address string bikinis but 1st Timothy 2:9 does say....Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments,....Paul came short of calling it a sin saying, I want....so depending how you interpret this scripture you would have to stay away from beaches and swimming pools. And in relation to modest dress, you might have to stay away from churches.
