Not so. God’s grace gives us the ability to do the work (1 Corinthians 15:10). God’s grace teaches us to deny ungodliness and that we should live righteously, and godly in this present world (Titus 2:11-12). 2 Thessalonians 2:13 says God has chosen you to salvation through the Sanctification of the Spirit and a belief of the truth. This is a call of the gospel (2 Thessalonians 2:14).
After we are first saved by God’s grace
(A process of salvation without works):
There Are Things We Need To Do As A Part of Eternal Life:
#1. Abide in Jesus and bear fruit to not be cast forth like a branch to be burned in the fire. John 15:6 says if a man does not abide in Him, he is cast forth and burned. See also John 14:23, John 15:4-7, Matthew 3:10.
#2. Abide in the doctrine of Christ. 2 John 1:9 says, Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. See also 2 John 1:5-8.
#3. Know Jesus. John 17:3 says eternal life is in knowing the one true God, Jesus Christ. Knowing implies a fellowship. So if you don't know Jesus, then you don't have life (Salvation). 1 John 2:3 says, “And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.”
#4. Do not stumble at the Word being disobedient (1 Peter 2:8). See also: 2 Timothy 3:1-9.
Be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves (James 1:22). See John 8:47. See 2 Timothy 3:13.
#5. Be a faithful servant of the Lord (being faithful over a few things) in order to enter into the joy of the Lord and do not be an unprofitable servant so as to be cast into the outer darkness – (Matthew 25:23) (Matthew 25:30).
#6. Have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. (Romans 6:22).
#7. Be not be weary (tired) and faint not in sowing to the Spirit to reap life everlasting. This sowing to the Spirit is “well doing” (good works) (See Galatians 6:8-9).
#8. Put to death the deeds of the body by the Spirit to live.
For if you live after the flesh, you shall die: but if you through the Spirit do mortify (put to death) the deeds of the body (sin), you shall live. (Romans 8:13).
#9. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, (1 Timothy 6:12).
#10. Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans 12:2). Hebrews 10:36 says: “For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:” 1 John 2:15 says: “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”
#11. Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: (Hebrews 12:14).
#12. Obey Jesus in order to be a part of all those in whom Jesus became the author of eternal salvation for. How so? Well, because Hebrews 5:9 says, “And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;”
This is just a small sampling of this list. There are even more things on this list (of which it does not sound like doing nothing to enter the Kingdom).
I mean, Jesus even said in Matthew 7:26-27 that everyone who does not do what He says is like a fool who built His house upon the sand and when a storm came, great was the fall of that house. Meaning, a person will not be saved if they don’t obey the words of Jesus. See also John 12:48. But if you want to gamble your own soul against the testimony of Scripture I have shown here, then that is your choice (of course).
