Amen...we are made righteous in God's sight because He has cast our sins into the sea of forgetfulness. How can God be blind to the fact that we're not really so righteous all the time in every way, some may ask, but that is the same as asking how can God forget that we sinned? Of course He knows all things, but in forgiving our sin He is choosing to not think about it any more...no longer imputing it to us, therefore imputing righteousness. No sin = righteous.
Our sin is covered by the blood of Jesus. When we repent and ask forgiveness God is faithful and just to cleanse us of all unrighteousness and the blood covers it, washes away and the blood of Jesus is our atonement that unites us with the Father. Our sin is placed on Jesus...on the cross, therefore it is no longer visible to God.
Am I making sense?

Absolutely, yes it is because of the atonement of the cross. Our sins being washed away, is another way of saying our sins are forgiven and "remembered no more" by God. Thus righteousness is imputed to us instead.

having cast our sins into the sea there now is no need for payback (eternal suffering in hell)
