Unbelieving souls go to Hades (the underworld, but separate from Tarturus, where the demons are) and await their final judgment. The second resurrection will involve the inhabitabts of Hades and they will be thrown into the Lake of Fire, which is Hell.
Hades isn't Hell and that is a mistranslation. How do I know this? Because at this final Great White Throne Judgment, Death and Hades are thrown into the Lake of Fire and destroyed.( Rev. 20:14) This is the final judgment event. Death is the judgment (part 1) in Sheol and (part 2) in the Lake of Fire - where they are consumed.
Why am I referring to the Lake of Fire as Hell? Because it is the final judgmet that coincides with the destruction of the first heaven and first earth, a massive annihilating fire described in 2 Peter 3:10 The elements of the first earth and universe are burned up in a fervent heat.
So if Sheol (Hades) and the Abyss (Tarturus) are in the underworld, the lower parts of the earth and God destroys the earth ( with Hades and everyone in it, the Abyss and all demons and Satan in it); then they won't exist anymore. "Behold, I make all things new, all former things have passed away". (Rev. 21:1)
So it is not an eternal Hell (of punishment and destruction) because the word "aionios" has also a temporal meaning: ages, lifetimes, generations. And destruction means just that, to put an end to. Therefore the translation of aionios into eternal or everlasting _ when referring to temporal things _ was misinterpreted and really means age-lasting or age-during. It's eternal meaning only applies to God and His domain, Heaven and our salvation.

So Hades is the holding place, a prison. But it is much deeper than 6 feet! The second death is ultimate destruction. There cannot be an eternal state of indestructible destructuon or imperishanle perishing. Destruction means to put an end to. As we see bodies cremated in minutes - that is what fire does. Fear God, Who can and will destroy both body and soul.

Some of the ideas about Hell came from
Gehenna, The Valley of Hinnom, a deep ravine south of Jerusalem. This is where the Cannanites used to sacrifice and burn humans to Molech, a false god. Later, it became a perpetual burning dump for dead and diseased animals. Symbolically and physically, Gehenna gave the Jews a perspective of Hell. Jesus even cursed the Pharisees to the Gehenna (Matthew 23:33 YLT). So it was a shadow representation of the final Gehenna ON EARTH.
SHEOL comes from the word "shaol", which means to ask, demand or require. So Hades (and Satan) therefore is hungry and unsatisfied, asking, demanding and requiring souls. Satans drawing power tempts souls to, "Come to Daddy!" The lost store up wrath and sin pulling them closer to their destiny. Fortunately, God has a strong drawing power of Grace to thwart Satan's and our actions.
You have to ask, what satisfaction and sense of accomplishment would Satan get from just tempting people to just enter into a soul sleep and then at the end just get to be resurrected and thrown into a fire for a minute of conscious pain? Unless of course hell was eternal, then he would have their company.
Here are some verses that refute soul sleep:
Job 10:21-22 > The land of darkness and deep shadow is not a descriptuin of a grave.
Job 11:7-8 > The depths of God are compared to the depths of Sheol - obviously deeper than 6 feet.
Job 26:5-6 > Hades also means hidden and unseen from us. The description of departed spirits " trembling under the waters" suggests under the crust of the earth's aquifers. "Abaddon has no covering". Abaddon is the angel of the Abyss, thw destroyer released during the Apocolyose (Rev. 9:11).
So we can see that Abaddon is not in a burial grave or tomb with the bones of a dead person!!!
Job 38:17 > This reveals that death is a doorway, it has gates. Jesus made a reference to the gates of Hades in (Matthew 16:18)
Deuteronomy 32:22 > *** Here a "fire is kindled" in God's anger "and burns to the lowest part of Sheol and consumes the earth with its yield and sets on fire the foundations of the mountains". ***This is a key verse that actually describes a super volcanic eruption that will take place in the end.
" Do not hold back discipline from the child, although you strike him with a rod, he will not die. You shall stike him with a rod and RESCUE his soul from SHEOL." Proverbs 24:13-14 Now obviously discpline does not save us from physical death and the grave. No, this is talking about saving the child's soul from Sheol.
Jonah 2: 1-7 > describes Jonah crying out from the "depth of Sheol". The belly of the whale was not a grave. No, Jonah died and cried out to God. "Water encompassed me to the point of death ... I descended to the roots of the mountains, the earth with its bars (gates) was around me forever, but You have brought up my life FROM THE PIT, O LORD my God."
Luke 16:23-31 > This is not a parable! Parables don't mension names of real people, like Abraham. What moral truth could be gained from describing a place that does not exist? Parables don't describe fictional, abstract territories.
2 Peter 2:4-6
Matthew11:23
Ezekiel 26:20-21 > Here again, the lower parts of the earth, " the pit" are mentioned. God says, " I will make you dwell in the lower parts of the earth ... I will bring terrors on you ..." Does that sound like sleeping in the grave?
Ezekiel 32:24 > During the Great Tribulation, inhabitants_ on the earth _ when it splits opens _ will fall into these fissures, the pit, and some will try to climb out in terror and be snared.
Psalm 140:10 " burning coals fall on them ... cast into fire into deep pits from which they cannot arise."

1. the demons are not in hell right now. Demons are defined as those who went with Satan i the great Rebellion (the 1/3 of rev.). they are still loose and free and deceiving people. Satan canonly be in one place at one time so it is his underlings that do the person deceiving and oppressing etc.

2. Teh Lake of fire is not hell. Hell is the anglicized word for sheol/hades/the grave/hell. Priot to Jesus ascension there were three compartments of hell. A) Paradise/Abrahams Bosom, B) the place of torments with fire (where the rich man of Lazarus account went) C) Tartarus where teh angels who rebelled, left their first habitation (heaven) and came and had sex with human women.

Hell, hades and sheol are the same. It's holding place for the spirtualty dead or wicked. Luke chapter 16, Jesus taught a analogy of Richman and Lazarus. Richman went to hell. Lazarus to paradise. Theirs two sides of the Gulf. Neither side can cross over. Psalm chapter 49;19. Majority will go to sheol. They don't have the holy spirit. Some people have spirit of slumber for their protection. The wicked don't have spirit of stupor. God's Election have holy spirit. Documentation, romans chapter 11 and Isaiah chapter 6. EKLETOS in Greek means = divine Selection, Elect. IEPEUS in Greek means = priest, elected. ABEDAH in Hebrew means = Hades, lost. PARADEISOS in Greek means = paradise, happy. BASANOS in Greek means = torment, grave, sheol, hell. Get the picture. You need holy spirit to guide you on right path to paradise.

Your view nullifies the Great White Throne Judgment. Think about it. The GWT Judgment is the final judgment. All reprobates _ in Hades _ will then be thrown into the Lake of Fire. Death itself, Satan and demons will be cast into this Lake as well and destroyed.
If Hades is the same as Hell, what is the purpose if the GWTJ, to resurrect those who have been suffering in it, for them to stand in front of the Almighty to account for what they did and then get thrown back into the same place for eternity? The already know what they did and had plenty if time to think about it. So what is this GWT judgment for, to remind them what they have been suffering for ages for and then out back there? They are in Hades, already suffering and awaiting judgment ... for what, just more of the same punishment? They were already judged on earth when they lived.

The prisoners in Hades are dead, suffering for their wages of sin, which is death; and awaiting their final extermination. Then Death and Hades ( and all who are in it will be destroyed in the Lake of Fire - THE END! They will be no more, the first heaens and first earth will also be destroyed and not exist anymore. All former things will have past away, leaving no pain, no tears, no sorrow anywhere.
GOD is merciful in his final judgment ... and I think it is a quick one Those who have been in Hades, like the Rich man, have no hope for anything good anymore so all they can hope for is to put and end to their existence, their suffering.

No, 200,000,000 are not released from the abyss during the trib. they are loosed from teh river Euphrates:

14 Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates.

15 And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.

16 And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them.

17 And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone.

18 By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.

19 For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt.

Well hell is the English word for sheol (hebrew and hades (greek) which are both the land of the dead. But death and the grave are cast into the lake of fire and destroyed before people are cast there.

"Loosed IN the river Euphrates"? What were they disguised as aligators swimming around _ on a leash?
A demonic horde is released from the ABYSS which is opened in that area. A volcanic eruption opening up a fissure may be a likely scenario. Remember an angel fell from heaven with the key to the Bottomless Pit and it opens up and out-of it arises "smoke as from a funace" and demon locusts at the sound of the fifth trumpet. Examine what these locusts look like and then the 200 million. They are demonic, likelbegin as locusts and morph into these other demonic creatures that maybe possess humans? I don't know. It will be horrifying.
The earth is split open in that area of the Euphrates, which btw has a history of volcanic activity. The Great Syrian/African Rift stretches from Syria through Galilee, The Dead Sea ( the Devil's Sea), The Red Sea and far beyond into Mozambique (3700 miles long).
> The Dead is where Sodom and Gomorrah were torched and swallowed up.
> The scapegoats were sent off into that area, the wilderness east of Jerusalem.
> JESUS sent demons that possessed pigs off the ravine who pleaded for him not to send them into the Abyss in that area ( near Galille).
> Jesus was tempted near Mt. Quaranthal by Satan in that area.
> It is believed that demons dwelled beneath the surface of the earth in that area and so they were bound/ imprisoned beneath the earth and released.
You really have to dig deep to figure this stuff out - no pun intended.

Really? Is this your best answer?
A demonic horde is released from the ABYSS which is opened in that area. A volcanic eruption opening up a fissure may be a likely scenario.
Or the angel opening up the pit! We can only guess as to the exact nature of how that abyss is opened. And making guesses absolute is always foolish and dangerous.

I agree the abyss things are demons. the 200,000,000, though I believe so , I cannot be dogmatic. Weapons of war today could fit the description. but we will know for sure in time.

And all this is extra biblical stuff which may or may not be true. while I do research like that for fun, it is all could be's and may be's. If it was important enough to know, god would have made sure it was included in HIs Word. But it is fun to mess with.

JUST TOO MUCH CONFUSION here.

The KJV New Testament word "hell" is translated from 3 different Greek words, each with a different meaning. A similar thing happens in the OT with words like the 'grave', 'sheol' (often translated as hell). So when studying and coming upon the English words, it's important to look at the manuscript meanings.

In the NT Greek, "hell" can mean...
1. haides - the abode of the wicked in the heavenly
2. geena, pointing to the "lake of fire" - a singular event to occur after God's GWT Judgment, and is when the abode of hell, and death, are cast into it, and is called the "second death".
3. Greek tartaroo - the deepest part of the abyss (pit) where the angels of Genesis 6 that sinned are kept until the great day of God's Judgment (i.e., GWT).

Which one of those definitions apply to the word "hell" depends on the Greek word that was translated. Most often the context of the verse will easily point it out.

Informative thank you. It was funny id just been researching the subject. To simplify our situation it is True to know that the All consists of four realms related to the four elements. Wind, Fire, Earth and Water. All dietys and mythical places are characteristics and descriptions of these four realms.

Not at all. Out of all scripture that I have red from any culture and any mystic tradition, this has given me the most revilation. Its a brilliant piece of work and anyone who just ignores it because "somone told them to" has been decieved and has fallen victum to controled religion and mind controle.

Anyone who thinks that Truth is limited to the bible is neive and small minded and does not understand what Truth really is.

In a world full of deception it is wise to explore things yourself and make your own conciouse choice. Often the things we are told not to look at are the very things that set us free.

Well having walked with the Lord for over 49 years now I have done intensive studying. The gnostic books have many accurate quotations in them. But they also carry many errors that are inconsistent with teh Rest of Inspired Scripture. they both cannot be right! All the truth we need to live godly lives and know the Truth from error that God wants us to know is found in the pages of Scripture.

According to yor thinking.

Zen, Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, voodoo etc, are just as valid. If they are not- how do you draw the line as to what is true and what is false?

When you can align your understanding with most religions you know you have found Truth. If there is conflict, most of the time we need to re align our perspective.

We can view a mountain from the front. We can then view it from the back. Both are different perspectives but it is still the same mountain.

Everything we experience in life contains pieces to the puzzle of Truth. Start limiting yourself and you will limit your pieces recieved.

This is a lie that sends people to the Lake of Fire to burn forever! Jesus said I am THE Way,THE truth and THE life! We do not compare truth via other religions. Jesus is truth and all religions that do not align with the Teachings of Jesus are lies.

Religion is a belief system and what you say is true for belief will never be Truth. But what i mean is for example is there is a realm of fire depicted in alot of ancient traditions including Christianity. Like you say "The lake of fire". By reading other perspectives we get a greater understanding of this realm. Truth is not limited to Christianity nor is it exclusive. We can place our trust in one form of spiritual teaching which is fine but to cut everything off completely is to limit your understanding and Truth.

God and Truth are not exclusive. Anyone that thinks this suffers from ego identity and tries to keep the idea as a possession. Possesing things and making them exclusive is of this world and is a sign of arrogants and selfishness. The Truth is omnipresent and exists within everything. And if your so scared of other beliefs and anything outside the bible because you think your going to get thrown in the lake of fire, I'd strongly suggest that you reconsider your belief system as it is limiting and toxic. You clearly live in fear, and if you live in fear you are a victim in the institution of controle.

I do not live in fear as I am free. When people ask me what Religion I represent i say none. I say "I Am" for "I Am" is a statement of unlimited potential and states an alliance with Truth.

However i do "identify" as a real Christian as im all about Truth, Morality and Freedom. I can practice conscience and discern Truth from Falsehood and I am not a product of institutional controle and false belief. I am Truly free within myself. I speak to you from outside the confines of your toxic belief system.

Almighty god, the triune Yahweh is Truth. Jesus said this:

John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

This can only be true or false. If true all other perspectives other than the revealed Word of God, may contains truths, but are not THE truth.

If it is false then Jesus is a liar and should be absolutely rejected, or He is a lunatic for boasting so exclusively.
