True knowledge vanished when Catholicism=2 Thess 2:3 screwed it all up. But now in these last days, truth is abundant, rejected by 99%. Because many remain in the darkness of Catholicism mistranslating and pagan additives. Which includes all the protestant religions, they fixed little.

When he laid out equations he did so in very neat handwriting and there would be much activity as he turned the results of an analysis into an addition. I switched to friendship evangelism. We need to EARN the right to be heard. Which begins with LISTENING.

There is, unfortunately, a rather common misconception among professing Christians, of a supposed spiritual gift called “the gift of tongues” in the church of the Lord Jesus Christ. When the truth of the Word of God is presented unto such people, many of them will shut their ears, cast the truth behind their backs, and judge themselves unworthy of everlasting life. Even as the Lord Jesus testified of the stiffnecked Jews in the days of his flesh saying that:

"...This people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them."

The supposed “gift of tongues” only serves one purpose; and that is to cause confusion. Wherefore it is written in the scriptures:

"If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God..."
— (1 Peter 4:11).

And again:

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."
— (Proverbs 3:5).

Jesus Christ said:

"...If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

It is also written:

"To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them."
— (Isaiah 8:20).

Having said this, the scriptures testify that:

This is what the Word of God says; that they began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. When this was noised abroad, the Jews who were out of many nations under heaven, heard these tongues and they understood them.

This is that which will happen when men and women receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. They will:

Nah, I disagree. Tongues is real. I was real interested in tongues because everyone was starting to say we should do it, but I was very hesitant because it says in scripture that it is the Holy Spirit which prays to God for us because we don't know how to pray effectively. Right?

So I figured, if it is the Holy Spirit then, I cant make Him do it. I continued studying it and having discussions about it with Brothers & Sisters. I've had 2 or 3 people say to me that they can teach me how to speak in tongues. And that mde me recoil! What? How could he, teach me to speak in tongues. It is the Holy Spirit talking and we can't put words in His mouth! That seemed wrong to me. And like so many other mysteries in the bible I got no conclusive answer. Then Tongues fell by the wayside in my studies and I went on to things I could understand!

So one day I'm sitting and began to pray. I had something on my mind, I forget what but it wasnt about tongues. As I began speaking my speech changed and I was speaking in a foreign tongue. I immediately realized what was going on because I didnt try to speak in tongues, so this is the real deal and I stood down in my mind and just listened. When the Holy Spirit was done praying, I said my little feeble prayer too and said Amen. I do not know what was said within the tongues that day either.

So Tongues is a mysterious thing but it very much is real.

What I did do was to open my mouth to speak to God, and boom. The Holy Spirit took over! Praise the Lord!

Well, if that's what you (and telegra.ph) believe, that is wrong. Speaking in tongues is a gift from God, and I am one of many recipients of that gift.

This might sound weird but I'll share it anyway. A few times some recently I have woken from sleep speaking in tongues. I'm not entirely sure what thas all about but it makes me feel good to think the Holy Spirit is praying for me!

That time I was praying and spoke in tongues proved to me that tongues is real. It sounded like a foreigh language but I couldnt tell you which one. I'm a English only guy, Lol!

Sometimes I wake up speaking in Tongues. The Lord has more control over us when we sleep (Job) I think is what it means. That's when the Lord talks to us (our spirit) is in th night when He has our attention because we are not thinking about anything worldly, we're sleeping! So our mind is clear. I have (in the morning when I wake speaking in tongues) heard it stop as I woke up and I thought, don't stop! And I willed myself to continue and it started up again! so it would seem to be able to be started by us and our will which knows that we don't know how to pray like we ought to so that seems to make sense and even coroberates the truth of it through our testimony about it they are so similar.

A long time a ago, I tried to speak in tongues a little bit but it was from my Carnal man and not from my spirit so it did not work. We are to worship in spirit and in truth. Speak Tongues in Spirit and in Truth!

You are the 2nd guy who told me it happened to him just like it happened to me. Thats amazing!

Let's say for example,say you speak in a foreign language. Are you sure? (I'd be recording myself! ) You said you don't know what language.Why would the Spirit translate one tongue spoken on earth to another?But the gift of tongues is just that--a gift. Not everyone has it. That doesn't mean others who have the gift of administration, mercy, helps, teaching, are spiritless or that their prayers are not heard.
God knows what I say. I do not have the gift of tongues
As for your friends wanting to teach you-that is what bothers me. The gifts of the spirit are gifts. No one needs to learn how to use them.
