Tongues is a very controversial subject to discuss. Some Christians seem to be absolutely terrified about the subject. There are testimonies of Christians fleeing meetings when they hear other believers speaking in tongues. (culture shock) I assume this is caused by so many churches preaching against tongues. But what if it happened to you? There are testimonies of spontaneous tongues from believers that knew nothing about what they were.

My previous comment was a joke. If you speak with sounds you don't even know what they mean, isn't your brain detached from the languages you actually speak? So how are you going to think in languages you don't know?

A street preacher down at Broward Community College tried to "teach" me to pray in tongues. Didn't work. Maybe it's just me. Or maybe it's not something that can be taught. Or even passed on by the laying-on of hands.

• 7) You would begin to study spiritual gifts to see what else God might do?

What you posted sounds like some of Charismatic Lady's bizarre concepts.

Here is the thing..
The reason that there is confusion about "tongues".. is very simple.

Its just one thing...

There is "the GIFT of a foreign language" that you never learned, and God needs you to speak it for those who are listening to you, so that they can "hear in their own language"... (Acts 2:38).... the Gospel.
This gift is naturally going to be given to a Missionary. (Apostle) .

And there is also... the self edifying "prayer language" that is supernatural, but its not one of the 9 Spiritual Gifts, that are on Paul's Lists of Spiritual Gifts.

Now, if you want to drill down to the core, then .. you have this..

"Jew's require a sign" and "tongues are for a sign".

The simple understanding is this........... there is a prayer language that is not the "gift of tongues", and when this is not understood, then the prayer language is taught AS the "gift of Tongues" and that creates the confusion regarding this topic.

I know the scripture. What I want to know is why you would even think I was alluding to blasphemy of the Spirit? All I did was respond to Lambano's mention of a college I once attended. So....explain yourself.
