One question for you both . Where was the Holy Spirit when the resurrecting was taking place ?

As you know, I’m a Jewish monotheist. The Holy Spirit in Jewish monotheism is personal, but not another person who is the one God. The one God is the Father and no other.

The Holy Spirit is the operational presence and power of the one God - the same Holy Spirit which hovered over the waters in the Genesis creation account; the same Holy Spirit which overshadowed the virgin when the Father supernaturally beget Jesus in the womb of his mother.

The one God spoke, expressed himself, and what had previously existed only in his plan and purpose was brought into existence.

“Jesus answered them, ‘Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.’”

(John 2:19, NASB)
There’s no question that Jesus spoke the words, but that’s not the question.

Who’s words are they? Who’s words was Jesus speaking?

“The person who does not love me does not obey me. The word which you hear isn’t mine, but the Father’s who sent me.”

(John 14:24, WEB)

Why does it matter? The dead don’t bodily resurrect themselves to life.

The God and Father of Jesus raised him from the dead.
I believe that Jesus explained what he meant…..and he only spoke what his Father instructed him to say.

”So the Jews said to him, “What sign do you show us for doing these things?” Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” The Jews then said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days?” But he was speaking about the temple of his body. When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.“ (John 2:18-22 ESV)

What is “the temple of his body”?
1 Cor 3:16….Paul clarified it…..
”Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and you are that temple.” (ESV)

The temple of his body are his elect…..”the body of Christ” are his “joint heirs” who are chosen to rule with him in his Kingdom. (Rev 20:6) He is their High Priest who was raised first. Upon his resurrection, (as “firstborn from the dead”) the way was opened for his elect to follow him into the heavenly realm.….but according to Paul, that would not take place until his return. At that time no one knew when that would be…and here we are almost 2000 years later, still waiting it seems….or are we?

1 Thess 4:15-17…
”For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.“ (ESV)

This is in accord with Jewish belief in the resurrection….those who have died remain in Sheol (the grave) until the time when Jesus returns to take his elect “home”…these are “resurrected first“ and Jesus indicated that the general resurrection of the dead would take place later, when his kingdom is established over the earth. (Joh 5:28-29)

Careful Bible study reveals what theology hides.

Honesty is the best policy, in truth. The Holy Spirit was doing the heavy-lifting...it was the Fathers' own (Holy Spirit). It is a part of him, of the same one person. The Holy Spirit is not another Spirit person that is truly holy, besides the Father's Spirit.

Here's one rendition of how it all went down:

Jesus, the mortal man, died on the Cross to gain his salvation to new life. His human spirit separated from his human body as Jesus cried out to his Father - Jesus was now dead, and did not exist at the moment in time, at least of no energy or life.

Then after 3 days, as promised by his Father: A 'portion' of his Father's spirit became 'fused' into Jesus' spirit, in the keep of his Father. This ignited and caused new life, new life of immortality into Jesus, placed also into his body, that was now altered to accommodate this new immortal life.

Per scripture: Jesus became the first from the dead risen into immortal life, and many would follow him. Jesus was born as the natural born believer in God as his God dwelt in him, his Spirit. And at his death, he gained his own salvation, the glory he was praying for since the foundation of the world as the plan and promise of his God. He is the example and the process of life for every believer from rebirth to immortality.

I gave you my long answer in post #62. My short answer, present.

How would you answer your question?
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Ro 8:11

Present of course .
Do you think there was anytime Jesus was without the presence of the Holy Spirit ? I don't .

The Holy Spirit is not a person, but Greek is a language that gives ‘things’ a gender. For example the Holy Spirit is described as a “helper” (John 14:16-17) which is “paraklētos” and is in the masculine gender so all references to the “paraklētos” have male pronouns. We all understand pronouns these days, even if we don’t want to…..It doesn’t make the Holy Spirit a male person. Spirits have no gender.

”God the Father” is clearly stated in Scripture….but “God the Son” and “God the Holy Spirit” are entirely missing from any passage in God’s word. These titles are an entirely Catholic invention, for obvious reasons.

Time to walk the pooch , back shortly . joy:

I don’t know your dog (I’m sure he’s a good boy or girl) but if your dog was being walked this evening by Jesus of Nazareth, do you think the pooch would be being walked by a Jewish monotheist?

* Lightheartedly asked by “the hound of Jewish monotheism” *

Do you believe Jesus himself is a Jewish monotheist?
Yes sir, if Jewish monotheist means just that.- Jew with one God. Do I think He thought that the Holy Spirit was God but a different "person" than the Father- I would have to say... yes seems so. Jesus had to go away so the HS could come. He said he would send another helper..
Yet, we see the scriptures that say that the Spirit of Christ is the Spirit of God who is the Holy Spirit who lives in us. While the spirit is the Lord and Lord is the spirit. Spirit of Christ is in us Spirit of God is in us. Holy Spirit is in us.
It is all one God.
I hate the way people argue over this as if anyone is 100000% certain of everything since we all see thru a fogged window. Discussion is good but the- I'm right you're evil when we agree on the basics that are crystal clear like-- The love God showed us- Jesus is our savior who died for our sins!!!--and we root for one another and help each other as brothers and sisters who are called to be one---- is just sad to me when we fight.

As if it isn't already hard enough being a human on this earth, then we have to deal with outright false teachers who demand crazy things that are clearly wrong and then call you a liar when you say what they teach..

I just see you repeating the same thing without addressing what I write. ? It's a little more complicated than that Matt.

I read what you wrote in full - which isn’t compatible with Jewish monotheism - and addressed what I think needed to be addressed. The more we speak the more convinced I am that Jewish monotheism is the way. The more that we speak the more convinced you seem to be that Jewish monotheism is just a way.

Your theology isn’t his theology. Your God isn’t his God.

It doesn’t take a degree in civil engineering and theology to know that a one person God isn’t a three person God.

You’ve done me a good service, and I thank you for it; but we are not brothers in the faith. @marks understands that. My hope is that you will come to. If / when you do, let’s talk again.
