I used to believe in this "gap theory"

I just repented of that theory about 15 years ago.. Most of my life believed in that theory
Yeah. I went from an ardent evolutionist, got saved then became a theistic evolutionist. Then I graduated to the gap theory and now I am fully a young earther.

I was converted to it by applying the rules of science to the theory of evolution and taking known indisputable facts and realized evolution could never take place on the Darwinian macro scale.

I went to the creation museum in Kentucky. And purchased some books from Andrew Snelling (earth's catastrophic past" and did a bunch of research. that is what God me to change to a young earth believer myself!!

Exactly - the prophecy was given to Jehu, not to Ahab. So it doesn't apply to any of Ahab's descendants.
It still does nothing to prove the earth is billions of years old. At most teh earth is 10K years. That allows for skipped generations and that Adam walked on earth for X time before the fall.

Actually, I never said that it did. My point was that we can't calculate the age of the Earth from the Biblical data.
We can calculate it in a range. That is why Christians who are experts in the fields of geology, archeology, physics, paleontology etc. all give a 7-10k year range. Not older and possibly slightly younger.

Apparently, there were 4000 years from the birth of Christ back to Adam. Then, I might just add another 5 days and get 4000 years and 5 days, plus or minus a few days.... :crossword:

My calculations would suggest that you have an error in this calculation which is around 100 years short plus or minus a few years.

If Adam had lived before the fall for a much longer " year time " than what we commonly understand to be a year by our calculations this would perhaps be understood as the earth being much farther away from the sun and the span of the years before the flood event would be much much more than 365 days -

there would be no seasons or months similar to what we know today -

( '__'
also, before the flood a years time could be much, much longer, perhaps " 1 & 1/2 to " 2 " times longer than a year time after the flood.

I was wondering if anyone had ever considered this possibility. I do not believe or find any evidence for this theory to be true but its worth a thought,,.............. I mention this because sometimes i read about other people who present the theory that Adam lived for a really long time before he sinned and was cast out of the garden but i find a problem with this idea because the Bible presents a detail of exactly how old Adam was 130 years old when Seth was born .

I was just wondering if anyone had anything to add to this ..... nice to be here,.

4.54 billion years old. This age is determined through various dating methods, including radiometric/uranium-led/potassium-argon/rubidium-strontium dating of the oldest rocks and minerals on Earth, as well as meteorites and lunar samples, stellar evolution and many other things.
