Concerning the sabbath in the New Testament, Jesus said come unto me and I'll give you rest (Matthew 11:28-30) so abiding In Christ is the rest we are called to in the New Testament
These are not suggestions but are actually commandments in the New Covenant and there's no way around it that under the New Covenant it's a sin to: have other gods before the Lord (Matthew 22:37), to engage in idolatry (1 John 5:21), engage in swearing (James 5:12), to not abide in Christ where our rest is found (Matthew 11:28-30), to not honor your father and mother (Matthew 19:16-21), to do murder (Matthew 19:16-21), to commit adultery (Matthew 19:16-21), to steal (Matthew 19:16-21), to be a liar (Matthew 19:16-21, Revelation 22:15, Revelation 21:8), to covet (Colossians 3:5)
Jesus spoke of the sabbath and explained at length how to follow it, Jesus explained also the rest of the commandments, to say the sabbath is no longer is NOT what God said and what the bible teaches;
Exo 20:1 And God spake all these words, saying,
Exo 20:2 I
am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
Exo 20:3 1-Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Exo 20:4 2-Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness
of any thing that
is in heaven above, or that
is in the earth beneath, or that
is in the water under the earth:
Exo 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God
am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth
generation of them that hate me;
Exo 20:6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
Exo 20:7 3-Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
Exo 20:8 4-Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exo 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
Exo 20:10 But the seventh day
is the sabbath of the LORD thy God:
in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that
is within thy gates:
Exo 20:11 For
in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them
is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Exo 20:12 5-Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
Exo 20:13 6-Thou shalt not kill.
Exo 20:14 7-Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Exo 20:15 8-Thou shalt not steal.
Exo 20:16 9-Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Exo 20:17 10-Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that
is thy neighbour's.
you went to a point where you changed God's commandments the real ones listed above it what GOD wants us to follow, God did say about the commandments that they are the covenant. No One has the authority to change any of these commandments in any way.
About the sabbath, the fourth commandment also part of the covenant;
At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath, and His disciples were hungry and began to pluck heads of grain and eat. And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to Him, “Look, Your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath!” But He said to them, “Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him: how he entered the house of God and ate the showbread which was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests? Or have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath and are blameless? Yet I say to you that in this place there is One greater than the temple. But if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless. For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath” (Matthew 12:1-8).
Now when He had departed from there, He went into their synagogue. And behold, there was a man who had a withered hand. And they asked Him, saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”—that they might accuse Him. Then He said to them, “What man is there among you who has one sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not lay hold of it and lift it out? Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.” Then He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and it was restored as whole as the other. Then the Pharisees went out and plotted against Him, how they might destroy Him (Matthew 12:9-14).
Now it happened that He went through the grainfields on the Sabbath; and as they went His disciples began to pluck the heads of grain. And some of the Pharisees said to them, “Why are you doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath?” But Jesus answered them and said, “Have you never read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him: how he went into the house of God, took and ate the showbread, and also gave some to those with him, which is not lawful for any but the priests to eat?” And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath” (Mark 2:23-28).
And it happened, as He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath, that behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.” And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath; and he said to the crowd, “There are six days on which men ought to work; therefore come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath day.” The Lord then answered him and said, “Hypocrite! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water it? So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound—think of it—for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?” And when He said these things, all His adversaries were put to shame; and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by Him (Luke 13:10-17).
In these passages, it is clear that Jesus was not abolishing or dismissing the Sabbath but instead teaching its true, God-intended purpose. The Pharisees had added heavy, rigid rules to the Sabbath, focusing on legalistic observance, but Jesus reminded them that the Sabbath was meant to be a day of mercy, rest, and doing good. By healing on the Sabbath, Jesus demonstrated that acts of compassion and care were in perfect harmony with God's intentions for the day. He emphasized that the Sabbath was created for human benefit, not as a burdensome rule. Therefore, Jesus showed that the Sabbath is not only a day of rest but also a day to serve and heal, aligning with God's heart of mercy and love for His people.
To say Jesus never mentioned it is not true.
