That's the point.
These things are highly controversial.
(unless you are an evangelical)
I cringe when someone claims a physical book is the Word of God.

[
I was being sarcastic.
Sorry.

We don't know for sure who wrote the book of Hebrews.
So what?

Do you think God sat down and wrote out each book?

They're INSPIRED SS....God INSPIRED the writers...He set off a spark in them that made them
write certain ideas, concepts.

A physical book is the word of God because it teaches something about God.
It does not mean that God wrote it.

I think it's pretty incredible that different books in the bible were written over a period of about 4 thousand years and they all agree with each other.

Although, I will say that God did reveal Himself more and more over time...Jesus being the ultimate revelation.

You remind me of Bart Ehrman....
have I mentioned that?

Maybe you're just trying to understand...
but, at the same time, you sow doubt where there really shouldn't be any.

Know why?
Because we have other writings besides the NT that confirm what is written there.

But, yes, we must all come to our own understanding of what this bible is.

Were you born a sinner?
Was that by your choice?

What does that even mean?
Falling short of the glory of God is punishable by death?
Why?

[
The default position is being lost.
AT some point, and in some way,
we must decide that we want to serve God and not satan.

We are born with this sin nature that DOES explain a lot of human nature and why it doesn't work.
WHY can't man be better?
Why can't we be more compassionate or even empathetic?

Surely there has to be a reason?

The story of Adam and Eve makes a lot of sense.
However it happened....
man decided to disobey God.

Man is still paying for this to this day.
God is holy and demands obedience.

But God has always revealed Himself in one way or another.
It's up to man to say, yes God, I wish to serve YOU.

It wasn't my choice to be born with this sin nature...
but it's my choice to walk with God.

Are you claiming that:
- Matthew didn't write Matthew?
- Mark didn't write Mark?
- Luke didn't write Luke?
- John didn't write John?

Seems like you are the one obsessed. (ignorant)
Wake up to the truth.

Then why do you quote the Bible?????

Your silence proves that you do not believe the Bible is the written Word of God! An honest person would admit it.

I love the Bible.
It's a VERY important book to me.
I don't discard it over a few translation issues.
(which actually requires more faith than you are exercising)

Why do you love the Bible. It warns us of EVERLASTING Hell Fire! Is that the part you love?

Why does my simple question TERRIFY you? Quote some Bible that you believe is the Word of God. You do realize that attacking the Bible is attacking God?

There are actually three biblical views of the final judgment.
All three are contradictory.
- Damnationism
- Annihilationism
- Ultimate Redemption (Christian Universalism)

The only thing terrifying about your question is the mindset behind it.
You are obviously not well.
So you're saying anyone who believes the Bible is "not well"! Glad I won't be in your shoes on Judgment Day!

Revelation 20:15 Anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

I'm not attacking the Bible. I'm attacking your misconceptions about it.
Quoting God is "misconceptions"? You just keep digging your hole deeper! You do realize if the Bible is true you're in DEEP trouble?

Heb 10:31 It is a TERRIFYING thing to fall into the hands of the living God!

Time to end this discussion since you have failed to substantiate your bogus claims.

I found myself in a bit of a minor frustration.
My reaction was to raise a fist and blame God. All in jest of course.
I believe that God has a sense of humor and can stand a bit of honest frustration.

If we believe God is sovereign, then he is ultimately responsible for this mess we are in.
And I believe he has a plan in place to make everything right again. The age of restoration.

[
Can we blame God for the mess we are in, when He has on more then one occasion, tried to get our attention, to avoid it?

If the Bible doesn't convince you, a glimpse of the furnace of fire will!

Matthew 13:49-50
49 So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come forth, separate the wicked from among the just,
50 and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be SCREAMING and gnashing of teeth.

Oh boy, this is a scary topic, eh? (oops, Canadian slip) - LOL

How dare we blame God for anything? (unthinkable) Or just dangerous?
Really?

If you were God, how would you have created the universe?
What would you have done differently?

What would YOUR Logos/logic/reason/plan have been?

We don't have to trash God to discuss this.

What might you have done differently?

[

God has given us the truth and enough freedom to give what is due to those who obey the truth and what is due to those who do not. This is the way God faces the world. There are two choices, one is eternal life and the other is destruction.

Eternal life is a gift from God,
And destruction is man's own making.

That's all.

I love the Bible.
It's the Word of God! Glad you "love" it.

Exodus 21:17
17 And he who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.

And God has LOTS more that you'll "love". Stay tuned stevie.

If, instead, you want this thread to be about the problem of theodicy...
then I'll dismiss myself since, as some of us might know, there is no answer to this problem.
With the utmost respect, I suggest there is an answer. Theodicy isn't an easy topic to understand, but there are biblical and reasonable answers to people's questions regarding the problem of evil in the world, and why God seems to allow things to continue so long without any seeming justice or end to the wickedness that surrounds us. But perhaps for another thread?

Hi Brakelite,
I believe we could discuss this a bit.
It seems to be in keeping with the OP.

I've found that every time I THINK I have the answer...
it falls flat.
