What Is Sound Doctrine?

ὑγιαινούσῃ (hygiainousē) Verb – Present Participle Active – Dative Feminine Singular Strong’s 5198: From hugies; to be in sound health, to be well; figuratively, to be uncorrupt.

διδασκαλίᾳ (didaskalia) Noun – Dative Feminine Singular Strong’s 1319: Instruction, teaching. From didaskalos; instruction.

So when we speak of “sound doctrine,” we’re talking about uncorrupt instruction—teaching that is whole, healthy, and true.

Some say:

“You must believe Jesus is coming back today.” I have no qualms. That’s sound teaching—as they see it.
Others say:

“Jesus already returned, and we now live in the new heavens and new earth.” People have qualms. That’s not sound teaching—according to some.
So what’s the issue? People will always wrestle with teachings that challenge their framework. But the real question is: What is sound doctrine in the first place?

The Apostolic Record on Jesus’ Return

Jesus spoke often of His return. Let’s look at a few passages:

Matthew 24:30

“Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.”
Luke 21:25–28

“There will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars… distress of nations… men’s hearts failing them from fear… Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory… Look up, for your redemption draws near.”
Mark 13:26

“At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory.”

But Then Jesus Says Something Else…

Matthew 24:34

“Truly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.”
Mark 13:30

“Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.”
Luke 21:32

“Truly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place.”
Three witnesses. One message. Jesus said that generation would see these things.

So now we ask: Was this all supposed to happen in the distant future? Or in the generation He was speaking to?

Revelation’s Urgency

Revelation 22:10

“Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this scroll, because the time is near.”
Revelation 22:20

“He who testifies to these things says, ‘Surely I am coming quickly.’”
Revelation 1:1–3

“The revelation from Jesus Christ… to show his servants what must soon take place… Blessed is the one who reads aloud… and takes to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.”
Revelation 16:15

“Look, I come like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake…”
Revelation 19:7

“Let us rejoice and be glad… For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.”

So What Are We Saying?

With just a little gathering, searching, and reading, it becomes clear: Yeshua was coming—and He said it would be soon. Especially as the Great and Dreadful Day of the Lord approached that generation.

Now, some will say:

“You’re crazy.” “You’re not following sound doctrine.” “You need to be corrected.” “You’re a false teacher.” “You’re a devil.”
But I wouldn’t be so quick to label someone like that.

I’m not here to stir up division. I’m just sharing the text. Inviting you to consider what sound doctrine really is. To look again at what Jesus said—and who He said it to.

What is the value of reading this for oneself?

Value of the Reading

This isn’t just a list—it’s a spiritual inventory. Here’s what it offers:

1. Encouragement for the weary

It reminds believers that they’re not forgotten, not forsaken, and not fighting alone. Every promise is a lifeline.

2. Clarity for the seeker

It lays out the core benefits of faith in Christ—not just abstract theology, but tangible gifts: peace, renewal, belonging.

3. Foundation for teaching or testimony

This could be the backbone of a sermon, a devotional, or a personal testimony. It’s rich with scripture and easy to expand.

4. Fuel for reflection

Each promise invites introspection: Am I living in this truth? Do I believe it’s for me? It’s not just informative—it’s transformative.

5. Invitation to intimacy

Above all, it’s a call to deeper relationship. Not religion. Not ritual. But communion—with the Father, through the Son, by the Spirit.

What Is Sound Doctrine?

Regarding the NT Church, "sound doctrine" is Paul's Theology regarding Faith, Salvation, Discipleship, Prayer, Spiritual Gifts, and many other topics.

Now let me show you 13 examples that are not "sound doctrine" but are a "doctrine of Devils" or simply a false doctrine.

1.) Preterism Theology
2.) Calvinism Theology
3.) Mary Cult Theology
4.) Mormonism Theology
5.) JW Theology
6.) The Universalism Gospel
7.) No Hell Theology
8.) Satan is not opposing you Theology
9.) Acts 2:38 is the Gospel
10.) The Gospel of the Kingdom is the only gospel.
11.) People are saved in the Trib, exactly as they are saved in the "time of the Gentiles"
12.) There is no Rapture
13.) Replacement Theology ( The Church has replaced Israel).

Hey there,
So, if Paul and the others are long gone, are we really supposed to keep carrying everything they started? Did they actually set up the Bride of Christ the way they were meant to—or did something get missed along the way?
One thing I do know: what’s written about Jesus and his return feels vivid and deeply tied to that generation. It’s hard to ignore how strong that connection is.
But when you bring this up, most folks just give you the same ol’ answer. Like a script they’ve rehearsed a thousand times.

So What Are We Saying?

With just a little gathering, searching, and reading, it becomes clear: Yeshua was coming—and He said it would be soon. Especially as the Great and Dreadful Day of the Lord approached that generation.
