If you were born in 1997, read Lincoln saying in 1861, “when this generation has passed away,” and then insisted with a straight face that Lincoln meant YOU standing here in 2026, the problem would no longer be interpretation. It would be that some outside system had so thoroughly colonized your reading that ordinary language could no longer reach you.

That's exactly what you're doing to Christ’s words when you drag “this generation” two thousand years into the future without a single verse authorizing it. At that point, the text is no longer being interpreted. It's being overruled by the system.

You’re not giving me context. You’re handing me your system’s prefab conclusion, stapling the word “context” to it, and expecting that to settle the argument.

Luke 21:27 says:

“then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.”

Fine.

But your argument is:

“That has never happened, therefore ‘this generation’ must be future.”

That is dangerously circular.

You first assume verse 27 means a still-future physical return, then you use that assumption to redefine “this generation” in verse 32.

The text itself says:

“when YE see these things…”
“THIS generation shall not pass…”

So the question is not whether your theology says verse 27 is future.

The question is:

Where does Jesus Himself move “this generation” away from the people He was speaking to?

Show me the verse.

Because “I know this part is future, therefore ‘this generation’ must also be future” is not context. That’s the trick your system uses to smuggle the conclusion into the text. That's how the three-ring circus ends up with Princess Leia married to Chewbacca.

It's your system's conclusion being used to control the text.

And saying “you can’t hear it” doesn't solve that problem.

Spoiler alert, He never does.

Not to mention that your system creates a Christological five-alarm fire, because we’d have to accept that Jesus Christ misled the very followers He was speaking to; or else that He was simply mistaken about His own prophecy.

Either way, you have made Christ fallible.

And a fallible Christ who can be prophetically mistaken is not the Son of God.

It has always been about the Jews/Israel who are of faith.......like the faithful forefathers beginning with Abraham.......they are the Israel of God. The tree that we Gentiles have been grafted into is the Israel of God, not Israel after the flesh. Because "They are not all Israel who are of Israel"....as the bible says. "Israel after the flesh" is by definition unbelieving Israel. Any time a Jewish person comes to faith in Christ they no longer belong to Israel after the flesh, but the Israel of God.

We are not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers.......that includes unbelieving Israel. Friendship with the world is ENMITY with God.

Ezekiel 11:17-20
17 Therefore say, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "I will gather you from the peoples, assemble you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel."

And He did. Israel is home to stay in the Land of the Bible, Israel where Jesus will return, just where He left, Acts 1.

And He will give them a new heart and spirit.

'18 And they will go there, and they will take away all its detestable things and all its abominations from there. 19 Then I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within them, and take the stony heart out of their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh, 20 that they may walk in My statutes and keep My judgments and do them; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God.

And Jesus will return to the Land of Israel and fight for them!

But the bible is not ordinary language. It is a spiritual book, speaking in spirit, of spiritual things. It is not limited/confined the same way ordinary language is.

That’s the entire sleight of hand in the system..

You're taking one event you believe is still future and using it to transfer Christ’s audience 2,000 years forward.

But even if verse 27 is future, that still doesn't prove that “this generation” means your generation.

You still need the verse where Jesus says:

“By ‘this generation,’ I mean people living thousands of years from now.”

He never says that.

So “Jesus has not returned yet” is not proof that He was talking to you.

It's only proof that your system needs Him to have been talking to you.

To the lurkers who are absolutely terrified and rightly so; asking - "How could this have possibly happened!?!"

Very easily.

Give a theological system a hundred years to reproduce itself through pulpits, prophecy conferences, study Bibles, radio, television, and family tradition, and eventually people stop asking whether the doctrine comes from the text at all.

They start thinking like this:

“Our interpretation is not contradicted by God’s Word. Your inability to find it in the text merely proves that you do not understand God’s Word. The text does not naturally produce our doctrine, so you must first accept our doctrine in order to understand God’s Word.”

That’s how a system becomes self-sealing.

Because the absence of the doctrine from the text is no longer treated as a problem.

It's treated as proof that you need the system.

So if you don’t think Leia was married to Chewbacca, the problem is apparently YOU. You’re “unenlightened.”
You just haven’t accepted the system that teaches you how to see what the text never says.

And yes - this is the same system that ultimately has to make Christ misleading or fallible in order to survive.

Israel recovered West Jerusalem in 1948 and East Jerusalem in 1967. Right where Jesus will return, the Mt. of Olives!

IOW, some who witnessed this will still be alive when Jesus returns!

The times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. And right on time here comes Rev 13, the Mark of the Beast, Cashless society, World Government !!!

Stop dodging the question. Jesus was supposed to return at the time of "this generation" If he didn't then we know that the generation he was referring to was not the one of 70ad. So, has Jesus returned yet?
