Scripture is clear on this point:I have experienced grace, the Son of God destroying the works of the devil, in my life through faith in and boasting in the Cross, so I have to disagree if you disagree--but I think what you disagree with is an empty powerless profession that doesn't yield results but leaves a person buddy-buddy with sin, and I would reject that as well.
Romans 6:11-14 KJV
11) Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
12) Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
13) Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
14) For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Reckon yourself dead to sin, and alive to God.
Because of this, don't let sin rule in you. Don't yeild yourself to it. Yield yourself to God, as one who is alive from among the dead ones.
So then, while we are dead to sin, the Apostle urges us to not let sin rule in us, and to not yield our members - body parts - as instruments to sin.
Why does he do that?
Because even being dead to sin, it's possible we may yield our members to it. Being dead to sin is the condition of the new inner man, and we are in the process of our minds being renewed to live that way.
Much love!
