How is it that dust will hear a voice? Does dust have ears?

John 5:28
New International Version
“Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice

[
Good question, It does not mention the point in time. When Jesus resurrected Lazarus did he hear Jesus voice after he was resurrected? All I know is the scriptures said that "the dead no nothing" You don't want to pit one scripture against another do you, I try to have the words in one scripture compliment the other scripture, not disagree.

If you can't explain it in your own words, you have NOTHING.

[
I feel the opposite way, If we explain something in our own words we are doing what Jesus warned us not to do, listen to the words of the traditions of men and the Apostle Paul warned us not to listen to another gospel only the one from Christ.

The Apostle Paul warned us not to listen to another gospel even if it comes from an angel.

Not if you know what you are talking about.
Why would you devalue yourself?
Did the church teach you that?

It's not too difficult to conjure up a lot of nonsense from the scriptures.

[
I have always felt that way.. The Holy Scriptures in the Bible is the truth that leads to everlasting life, not the words from any individual anywhere in the history of time.

When Jesus resurrected Lazarus did he hear Jesus voice after he was resurrected?
Before and after, I would say.
Besides, Jesus inferred that he wasn't dead, only asleep.

... “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I am going there to wake him up.” John 11:11 NIV

But isn't that what you are doing when you search for "proof-texts" to support your preconceived traditions of men?
You disregard the scriptures I bring, claiming they don't fit your "whole Bible view".

I encounter this statement a lot...
Someone discounts a scripture I quote as
not possibly meaning what it plainly says because...

It doesn't fit the "whole Bible" view. ???
As if there is consensus on what that even means,

- Is there such a thing as a "whole Bible" view?
- Is there consensus on what that means?
- Is there reasonable latitude in what that could mean?

It's not enough to simply claim, "Whatever the Bible says."
Doesn't seem to be enough consensus to make such a broad claim. ???

I contend that no one is saved by doctrine.
Only a renewed relationship with God brings life.
A person doesn't need to know anything about the Bible to renew their relationship with God.
Christians put WAY too much emphasis on the Bible and not near enough on our personal relationship with God.

Yes that is true but a few words later she just says Lazarus has died.

If I use only the words in the scriptures to explain my fundamental beliefs, how can I go wrong?

Oh my.
The scriptures are misused all the time.

Where did your "fundamental beliefs" come from?

I read the entire Bible cover-to-cover before I solidified mine.

Jesus died for everyone's sins, he is the one that paid the price. Not us!

Why do we take in knowledge and observe Jesus commands? to put it simply, the Bible asks us to. Google it please.

If I remember correctly, you have failed to harmonize the scriptures concerning the state of the dead that disagree with your "fundamental beliefs". Claiming that they don't fit your whole Bible view. How can your view be a whole Bible view if it ignore half the scriptures on the subject?

Jesus said you must eat my flesh and drink my blood and I will resurrect you on the last day.

How do you know when Jesus is talking with a literal word, a figurative word, or a symbolic word?
The answer is: You don't.

What can we do? We can take the majority of the scriptures in agreement. Do you really think something good is coming out of this endless debate? Why don't you stop, I'm not responding to anymore questions, I am done.
