My experience:
Muslims are very receptive to the idea that Jesus submitted to his God.
Jews who don’t believe that Jesus - himself a Jew - is the Messiah are set hard against the idea that Jesus submitted to his / their God.

I wouldn't dare lie to either group and then expect them to accept the Gospel.
Repeatedly insisting Jesus was apart from God by saying God was the God of Jesus is blasphemy and heresy.
You deny the divinity of Jesus. You continually deny the hypostatic union.
Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am."
You are lost and incredibly confused.
That’s not necessarily a bad thing. If you’re finding that you aren’t able to commit yet then you shouldn’t. Half-hearted commitment to anything is close to a guarantee of failing.
You haven’t progressed to the point yet where you’ve put the Messiah ahead of worldly pleasure. You’re being pulled in two directions.
Is there anything small that you can let go of? If there is, let it go. Allow yourself to experience a small success.
John does tell us,
1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
1 John 2:17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

A suggestion in the meantime: Spend more time reading Jesus.
I know you’ve read some. Do you see in your reading that he is a Jew?

Right. That's often what it feels like. Almost like a rubber band.
Well, the rum is almost gone, so there's that. One more night of fun and I'll let that go. I think I'll keep the bottle though.
Why are you are you so obsessed with him being a Jew or my opinion on the matter?

I know that feeling. You aren’t the first, nor are you the only one, to feel it. You aren’t alone. It’s the human condition.
Why are you not? If I advised you to listen to Jesus the Hindu I wouldn’t be asking you to listen to Jesus of Nazareth. If we take away his Jewish identification, we aren’t even discussing Jesus of Nazareth anymore.
Jesus of Nazareth is a real person. You proved that to yourself. That real person is a Jew. If you aren’t seeing that in your reading then you’re reading without comprehension.
I’m gauging where you are.
Spending more time reading Jesus will reduce the time you spend on pleasure.
The more time you spend listening to Jesus, the less time you spend listening to the world. The more time you spend with Jesus, the more you will want to spend time with him.
No, he was a person while he was alive on this earth. But is he still a Jew in heaven? See, I'm thinking of him in that context, the heavenly context.
That's certainly true. The trouble is, the pleasure ends up winning more often than not. Still, that's my choice. I'm choosing the wrong things and I know that I am.
He’s the same person in heaven that he was on the earth.
Yes. He hasn’t changed what he believes. A former Baptist preacher was well-known for saying “There’s a Jew sitting at the right hand of God in heaven!”
When you read Jesus, do you hear him talking to and about his God?
You should. That’s where he is now. That’s not where he is going to remain forever. You also have to think about where he will be in the future, and where he will be in the future is here on the earth again.

The apostles saw him, touched him, spoke with him, ate with him, and were taught by him for a period of forty days after he was bodily resurrected from the grave.
Good. You’re not reading about a “mere man” but rather a supernaturally begotten Jewish man. Jesus is a unique man, a one of a kind man. He is the perfect image of his God. His God and Father is the one true God, the living God, the invisible God, Yahweh -> the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. There is no other God besides this man’s God.
It’s imperative that you hear Jesus himself speak @Riven. His words are given to him, put into his mouth to speak, by his God and they are life imparting. How frequently are you reading him these days?
