If the presented alternative is being burned forever and ever and ever, who WOULDN'T want to be saved from that? There's nothing super-spiritual about it. Self-preservation and pain avoidance are about as carnal as you can get. I have some experience with that, and it's one of the reasons I secretly identify with brother (?) Jack.

By Dr. Wallace's "rule 3", the neuter form of "touto" would be applied to a complex antecedent, in this case "by grace you have been saved, through faith". The gift is "being saved through faith". Faith itself may or may not be a gift from God; the verse doesn't explicitly say, though a Calvinist would say it logically follows that it is.
The romance languages are practically the same as Greek.
Ot really could be understood both ways.
The salvation is the topic....
So it takes both grace and faith....
Resulting in salvation.
So we agree.

What calvinists want it to mean is nit important and does not uphold IG for the reason I stated.

Thanks!

I would just use the Windows Snipping Tool (just type "snip" in the Windows search box) and paste the picture directly into the reply using the "ctrl-V" key.
Alternatively, just right click on the page where the content is that you want to copy. Select "Take Screenshot" from the pull-down menu.
Drag an adjustable window over the area you want to copy. Click "Copy".
Go to the page you want to insert the copy and "paste" it. (control V)

Great point.
Does God accept this response to the extortion threat from the church as a valid relationship with Him?
Or just carnal pain avoidance and self-preservation? (Away... I never knew you.)
That's a great question, one that is at the root of my own deconstruction 20 years ago.

No screenshots on a computer.
But good idea.

I would crop it and/or resize it in Paint first.

Those who joined the church out of fear should still be frightened. (if they believe in hell)

I can't help but think of the Parable of the Talents:

24 “Now the one who had received the one talent also came up and said, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter seed. 25 And I was afraid, so I went away and hid your talent in the ground. See, you still have what is yours.’ 26 “But his master answered and said to him, ‘You worthless, lazy slave! Did you perceive that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I did not scatter seed?... 30 And throw the worthless slave into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Of the things I don't believe, I don't believe that is what God wants. I don't believe He wants us to be so scared of Him that we're too afraid to do a damn thing because we might screw it up.

One size may not fit all. Sisters Lizbeth and RitaJanice may well have been called by an irresistible grace; I have no way of telling.
Lambano,,,I haven't read this entire thread so I don't really know about the two sisters.

As to irristible grace.....
grace IS resistible.

I don't think you need verses but

Acts 7:51 comes to mind:
51“You stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did, so do you.

I suppose that God has some in mind for very special tasks...
Moses would be one.
Abraham would be another.
Even some modern day folk....

Reading this forum, or any Christian forum it is easy to see those defined by what they don't believe.
Scan the topic titles and you can see it. Read a thread and see respondents lining up on either side of a doctrinal issue.

This may be an opportunity for some self-examination. (for me too)

Is your faith defined by what you believe, or by what you DON'T believe?

Do you make a career out of being anti-doctrinal?

[

Nope....absence of a belief requires it to be replaced by another.

Say something popular like a absence of Satan. People don't believe in an autonomous being named Satan or his existence.

But then it has to become an anthropomorphic concept....IE a personal "Satan" developed within each of us that is opposed to God. And that works fairly seamlessly within the confines of scriptures as well. It's too scary for most people to really ponder because they, themselves can be either a Saint or Satan. For one there is no redemption whatsoever.

So....there is that.

Satan LOVES it when his messengers convince people that there is no Satan or EVERLASTING Hell Fire!
