Replace “Romans” with “Muslims” … or replace “Jesus” with “Sherman”.

So there is mention of “Christian nations” in that video….when no such nations exist
Denial.

Passivists owe their lives to those who aren't - and then play word games like above to assert some sort of superiority ... I don't kill animals. I just buy meat at the grocery store.

"Love" doesn't mean ignore atrocities done to you and yours either.

That’s right. What is the response to cruelty taught by Jesus? Action, not inaction. And that action of a specific nature.

I had always heard about The Crusades in a negative way. But in this video, Bob from Speaker's Corner in London, explains why The Crusades started. They were in response to centuries of Islamic invasion of many Christian countries.
Hi Deb
Just saw the above.
I'm always protecting the CC WHEN IT'S NECESSARY....
because I know Catholic doctrine and some church history (no expert)
and we Protestants just refuse to learn church history.

I'm so happy that you've discovered re the Crusades.
We should be THANKFUL for them...not disparage a church that saved us from the Islamic religion.
I often say that if it weren't for the CC we'd all be speaking Arabic.

Someone on here, a JW, replied that it wouldn't be so bad !!

That's all I wanted to say.

The Crusades always were taught in a negative light...but hearing what atrocious things happened, I now can understand them more.
Taught in a negative light by a self-hating society. The Crusades represents a time when Christians were not over-spiritualized and were willing to do what the body of Christ needed to survive.

If Christiandom were so attacked today, being overly spiritualized, we'd elect our enemies as mayors to London and NYC. The Muslims will achieve through birthrate what they could not achieve by force of arms, the conquest of Europe. America next.

let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one.
Luke 22:36

No. Jesus chastised Peter for using the sword. The swords - two of them for the entire group, to be precise - weren’t for self defense.

My impression is that the majority of Christians have no problem endorsing Christians killing their enemies.

He (and the Roman Catholic Church) was far removed from the age and mindset of the Christian martyrs.

* Jesus is nodding his head approvingly. *

On a personal level, is God not able to protect? Of course he is able.

Obey Jesus and be still. Depend on God to defend you. Absolutely not, say the majority of Christians.

And the apostles? And the martyrs?

Jesus is nodding His head approvingly?
If we love our enemies?

OK
Depends.

If someone breaks down your door at 2AM and threatens your family with death
and you could stop them
would you?

They would be your enemy.
You would do nothing and allow them to kill your wife and children?

This discussion always turns out to be crazy, which is why I make my statement and then exit.

Jesus, the one nodding His head in approval,
told the Apostles to sell a robe a buy a sword.

Had I been there, the Catholics would have killed me. For being a Muslim? No. For being a believing Jewish monotheist.

Listen to the pope. Kill those who are treating Catholics cruelly.

Don’t be an ingrate @Wrangler. Be thankful to the pope.
